Ok just to clear things up...I was in the NAVY for 5 years and it is like this.
Depending on the job the member has will depend on what they are called.

If they are in aviation they are called AIRMAN
If they are on fire control they are called FIREMAN
If they are a Sea Bee or Construction they are called Construction
And of course anything else on board the ship or subs, are SEAMEN.

The Ranks are as follows from E1 and up (just chang Seaman to airman or fireman or construction man, depending on job)
Seamen Recruit
Seaman Apprentice
Seamen
Petty Officer 3rd Class
Petty Officer 2nd Class
Petty Officer 1st Class
Chief
Senior Chief
Master Chief
Master Chief of Navy (Only During War)

Still a failure homey, to me me at least. A lot of unnecessary "seamen" jokes, and while it is nice to know, I felt dirty sifting through the 22 other posts to find an answer myself.
