It needs a bit of body work -- its got about a million & a half dings from people opening their doors into it for 17 years :(, and that's the only thing thats been holding me back from paint.

01-07-2010, 04:23 AM
yeah the tranny is the most expensive part of the entire swap.
a 6 speed lsd tranny is anywhere from 1200-1800 bucks :(

god damn thats alot of dough............. :(
thats type r money right there.... how much would a jdm swap run
found the C4...time to blow this bitch up!
toxxxic
01-07-2010, 04:29 AM
but HPC has j32a2 motors for around 500-700 bucks.
tranny anywhere from 1200-1800;
then the mounts and axles run about 800-1000 for all of it from hasport
then the hybrid racing shift box is 400
then idk where the hell to find a swap header for that shit
ecu misc parts etc etc ... wiring harness from chase would be 1700 ish lol
of course, that's the way i'd do it -- there are cheaper ways to go.
ej_one
01-07-2010, 04:34 AM
you can get the complete swap with lsd tranny for 3500 on hmotors

great so far ma.. Its one of the standout Sols on here.. definitely get it painted but idk about that J32 swap.. Im not into the whole motor sticking out of the hood idea, thats some muscle car shit to me.. Plus youd have to raised your car up a bit for ground clearance.. Good luck with the build though, im sure it will be nice eitherway.. :goodjob:

If your D series dies, why not just replace it and boost it? Its more performance for your money.
On another note, I actually like your car. Which is uncommon to hear from me since I'm not exactly a fan of Hondas.

I'd choose the J swap over a boosted D series if money wasnt an option simply because very few people do it, and cheap out and go with the boosted b or d series.

yeah sheesh! and how long is a damn d series making 300 hp going to last? a day? a week? LOL
the most i've seen a stock d series make is like 230 ish... and that's on 11-12 pounds, which is MUCH higher than i'd feel safe with.
a j32a2 is 260hp & 232 torque. tell me what STOCK d series with a turbo kit makes that ??

I'm not getting into this shit slinging war as both ideas (boosted D and J series) have thir good points. The J swap is goofy as fuck with the horrible fitment, but they do 2 things: Make a civic sound mean, and make a civic MOVE! You will soon see bolt on J swapped civics hitting 11s with good tuning. not to mention all the turbo ones popping up now, and the fact nitrous is only one WOT tap away.

POOR DEL SOL! :(
last night, i tried driving up my driveway, FAILED -- i slid backwards down the whole thing :( Luckily I slid off the driveway on the left side instead of the right, because if I would have slid off the right side I would have ended up in the creek :( The exhaust got hung up on the driveway, and the wheels were just spinning in the ice, so I left it there overnight.... This morning my dad helped me push it out :)

but HPC has j32a2 motors for around 500-700 bucks.
tranny anywhere from 1200-1800;
then the mounts and axles run about 800-1000 for all of it from hasport
then the hybrid racing shift box is 400
then idk where the hell to find a swap header for that shit
ecu misc parts etc etc ... wiring harness from chase would be 1700 ish lol
of course, that's the way i'd do it -- there are cheaper ways to go.
would not use hpc.. imo they suck. i called and asked them if they had a d15b and the guy told me they did so i told him i would pick it up the next day. the next morning i call to make sure they have it and the guy assures me they do. i then drive an hour and 1/2. not only did they not have a d15b all they had was the oh so awesome d15z so with no choice but to buy because i had school in the fall, so i did i put all new parts on the motor, all seals new water and oil pump all gaskets 450 worth of parts. put it in and it had no comp, call um up and the guy tells me its impossible to have no comp on all 4 cylinders, i tell the guy im fucking lookin at the comp test then the mother fucker gets rude, so i give the mother fucker a piece of my mind then the guy has the balls to tell me im being unprofessional, then hes says hang on i look up the motor to see how long they had it and where in came from ect... then hes drops the bomb, the mother fuckers tell me the motor has been on the shelf for 9 years open and all, so the i asked the mother fucker who was unprofessional now... any who i all most dint get my money back. then to top it off when i go to take the motor back and meet this jackass i had speaked to on the phone he wants to give me this big speech about how i went about it the wrong way. so use them dont use them just seems like there just tryin make a quick buck witch is fine when you sell quality parts, but when a motor has sat on a shelf for 9 years, you would think they would tell you that shit, oh and in case your wondering why would it matter if it sat on a shelf for 9 years, after so long a motor not covered with no intake mani or exhaust mani moisture will get in the cylinder walls and rust the rings. glad i could finally put that out for the world. so imo fuck hpc

lUCAS and 20-50w in sub 40 degree temps= stupid
LUCAS is the ABSOLUTE WORST thing you can run in any engine. It actually makes your oil sludge and it will cause serious main and rod bearing damage due to lack of oil distribution.
20-50, thats not TERRIBLE if you park your car inside, but if its outside on days like today, good luck
Change your oil tomorrow if you hope to have that motor last another 50k

Put saw dust in your transmission when it grinds too lol
Lucas causes the oil to sludge up, makes oil pump cavatate etc
it's fine on big block LOW rpm motors but on hondas it's death . There was a guy on ht that did a test on it it was pretty horrifying. Actually next time you go to autozone ten that little wheel they have on display turn it fast watch what happens to the oil. Watch how it sludges up and leaves the gears

If I would have known of best Japanese I would have used them but I never heard of them before now. It doesn't matter where I got the motor you would think a business wouldn't sell a motor that set on a shelf for 9 years regardless of who its from. For your info a D15Z1 is out of the Economy Vtec hatch, and as far as useing someone else your the person that just said they have a motor for so much when you just tried to down me on buying a motor from them when it was out of a wrecked car... etc... when they should check the motors more thoroughly before they try selling them. i went to hpc, and nad. long story short i went to hpc to get the motor cus they beat nad's price. the guy said they had the motor pulled. i waited for three hours when they finally brought the motor (after i saw a truck come through the back gate with a honda single cam in it) and as im looking at it there was a nad warranty stamp on the head... almost forgot i was trying to get a d16z6 and the motor from nad was a d15b. no complaints on that....
