I had a dream that I was working under my car(which I did all day yesterday). And the car fell on top of me and everything just went blank, and when this happened I jumped up in my bed with my heart beating 10x faster and alot of fear inside of me. I never had shit like that happen to me, felt so real. Took me few minutes to even realise that I was even awake, and not dreaming. I felt like I died and came back, I think I've experienced death.

overall, It was nice experience to finally have a nightmare for the first time in my 20 years living. I do not want another one.

That's all, I felt like sharing that in WL.

Now to make this thread worth looking into:

A priest and a taxi driver both died and went to heaven. St. Peter was at the Pearly gates waiting for them.

'Come with me', said St. Peter to the taxi driver.

The taxi driver did as he was told and followed St. Peter to a mansion. It had anything you could imagine from a bowling alley to an Olympic size pool.

'Wow, thank you', said the taxi driver.

Next, St. Peter led the priest to a rugged old shack with a bunk bed and a little old television set.

'Wait, I think you are a little mixed up', said the priest. 'Shouldn't I be the one who gets the mansion? After all I was a priest, went to church every day, and preached God's word.'

'Yes, that's true. But during your sermons people slept. When the taxi driver drove, everyone prayed!'

I'll bet that is good enough to implant the mentality of using Jackstands every time now, even for an oil drain plug haha.

I use jack stands all the time. But no matter how safe you think you might be, it's never a good position to be under a car.

I heard it causes the person to have an heart attack, which kills them in their sleep. I guess it's similar to what i experienced this morning x10.

sure.

i never really thought about how the body is so attatched to the brain even to the point that, when you're asleep but still think you're awake, that it can control the body in ways similar to it actually being awake... aka, vital signs, muscle contractions, etc.

Falling to someone's death in real life, means they would actually die, not just due to the mental shock of it happening but due to the actual physical happening... Whereas in the dream, the only difference is the actual physical happening doesnt happen, but the brain still would respond in the same way as if it were real, therefore you die.

This isn't the matrix. You don't die in real life if you die in your dreams.

I heard if you step on a crack, it breaks your mother's back.

Or that it both are complete bullshit. You decide.

This isn't the matrix. You don't die in real life if you die in your dreams.

"In theory you could suffer a heart attack from severe shock if you thought you'd actually died if the dream seemed very real.... In reality I doubt that has actually happened more than a handful of times as you'd have to be in an unhealthy way to start.

All in all I'd say don't worry about it unless you've got heart problems and anxiety issues."

Just google it, there is many resources talking about it. Most of them talk about the same thing . another source i looked at: "Your brain thinks you are dying. It sends an electrical impulse through your body, causing your muscles to jerk, thus causing you to awaken. If the brain failed to send the impulse you can die due to asphyxiation. You occasionally stop breathing while asleep, but it is a small window in which you stop breathing."

If you were already breathing normally before the brain thought it was dying in a dream, wouldnt it continue as normal though, with no "real" cause for it to send the physical impulse?

since you have no real source, but Google, here are my search results:

http://www.asdreams.org/subidxeduq_and_a.htm

Is it true that if you dream that you die or that you hit bottom in a falling dream, you will in fact die in your sleep?

No, these beliefs are not true. Many people have dreamed that they died or hit bottom in a fall and they have lived to tell the tale! You can explore the meaning of these kinds of images just as you would explore any others that might occur in your dreams. However, if any aspect of your dreams worries or distresses you, talk to a professional mental health practitioner about your concerns.

Falling dreams are another theme that is quite common in the world of dreams. Contrary to a popular myth, you will not actually die if you do not wake up before your hit the ground during a fall.

btw, crazy dream you had. I've had dreams where I was being smothered in my sleep, and that was a terrible feeling.

How are these sources any different from mine. There is no proof that a person in that profession wrote the articles. It's probably impossible to die in your dream, but I do believe if you had a dream where it scares the shit out of u, it might give a mild heart attack when awaken.

I never said yours weren't true, I'm just showing you what I found on the internet.

My personal opinion though is that it's not possible. Until I see hard facts otherwise, that is.

Theres not really any way to get proof either, we cant ''videotape'' what goes on inside of people's heads

Exactly. You could easily say that you die in your sleep when you have a dream that you had sex with your own mother and father. Your mind is so grossed out and ashamed that you are actually a incestual bisexual and kills itself.

There are people every day dying in their sleep. They go to sleep and never wake up. Now could these be natural causes, or could it be a dream that actually gave them a heart attack? We don't know. Reason we don't know it's because there is no way to prove it.
