okay heres the deal I bought a honda crx from MrSvt he did what is called skiping a title. So in other words he didnt have the title in his name when he signed it over to me. It is both of or fualts for this but, I had a two hour drive home so I was in a hurry and didnt notice till I got back in town. I attempted to get ahold of him for a week. Got ahold of him once he told me he would give me a call friday on jan. 1 to get this fixed so i can get a tag on the car. He never called and I have called him several times this week to get this straightened out and he refuses to answer his phone. I am a very patient person but, it is getting on my nerves that he refuses to attempt to work somthing out with me so we can get this fixed. All that I have is the bill of sale on the car but that doesnt work on getting me the tag. Since he refuses to answer my phone calls and it is a must that i get a tag for this car to turn it into my dd b/c my other car is about to kill over for good. I am going to take him to court and get this fixed. I can list every time I have attempted to get ahold of MrSvt and he never answered. I hope I didnt do this wrong I dont want to get introuble for posting this b/c my friends told me that i should post a thread about this. I honestly wish he would just call me back and get this straightened out and we could both go on our seperate ways.

Yeah both parties is at fault...... What you can do is go apply for a bonded title cost about 120 bucks can get it done in one day and have that title in at the same day if you go to the tag office in hapeville....I have done this a few times if you need more info contact me through a pm and I will help thanks Joshua

i actually had this happen to me once and all i did was take the title to the tag office along with the bill of sale with the same guys name on it and the will apply for the title in your name! theres a paper i filled out also idk if they still do this though

Though at my title place all he needed was a bill of sale to get the title in HIS name...guess it's different in rome?

yea im glad its getting fixed my buddy told me i should post it on here. I have been wanting to get a tag and insurance on the car for a while since i got it. and like i said i was trying to be patient but every ones patience runs out... i mean if i was to sell a car and mess up on the title i would work with the person to get it fixed the next day b/c i dont like to keep people waiting b/c i know i personaly dont like waiting...

sometimes when i buy a broken car, i never title it to my name til it's running, ohh no call the tag police on me. as long as the sig matches on the title to the name on it it goes through fine with no bill of sale. this only happens when a motor rebuild or swap is done because sometimes it may take me and my bro more than 30 days and i don't want the state to get a free $10. glad he resolved the issue. next time everyone will know the signature needs to match the name on the title.

okay well im getting realy frustrated b/c the problem has not been fixed and I believe he has turned his phone off. can i take him to court and sue if i have a good lawyer?b/c my friend who is a da said he would help me if i ever needed help....he says the title is in the mail but that was two weeks ago and that he was going to compensate me..any he hasnt done that either... i thought the title was a type of bill of sale already, so as long as it's signed then you should be able to get a tag/title etc. for it? or does your county require another bill of sale and on that bill of sale the names were different? but from i see it, you shouldn't have had a problem titling the car as long as the title was clean and signed on the back, thats why if you leave your title in ur car and u get stolen your done for b/c someone could just sign their name on the title and get ur car.. (just using as an example)

Well the no as is doesnt matter, because that bill of sale is a legal document, and the dude owes you a title. If nothing else you can get a bonded title. I believe mine was $125 to file, and the process would have taken a week if the insurance company did not mess up the paperwork.

The cocksucker owes you a title though for sure.

A. IF THE TITLE IS NOT IN HIS NAME and he SIGNED under the buyers name, he HAS to register the car in HIS name to sell it to you and for you to be able to register it. Some tag offices MAY let it slide with a bill of sale, but that is the LEGAL way of doing it.

B. If the car wasn't in HIS name, he didn't even legally own the car, no matter what. If for some reason that car was impounded, know who can get it out? Know who's contacted? The PREVIOUS owner.

So he sold you a car in someone elses name but provided a bill of sale, that bill of sale isn't even technically valid unless like I said in A. the tag office accepts that because he doesn't own the car. I could steal a car and the title, write a bill of sale signing my name...a cop would laugh. Who cares what so and so says if the title says another name?

It's really both of your faults, I know when buying a car you sometimes look over things like that I've made bad decisions too but with a title always check the name, I've bought TONS of cars that weren't in the sellers name, but they didn't sign the buyer box, that's fine, I sign it and register it and skip the guy I bought it from. However this is just a bitch situation, he should of mentioned that he signed that box, everyone I've dealt with always mentioned that they didn't have the title in their name.

amen, i was always upfront if the title wasn't in my name, esp if the car had major repairs i was honest an d it skipped me completely. when i buy a car i look at this too because if something is wrong i have it addressed. i have even gone with folks to make sure the tag office accepts the title just incase, esp with older folks who are not sure. it also shouldn't take two weeks to get the title back, more like a week now.
