Having lived in Colorado - I am now weird about snow. I only want snow in beautiful places - like CO. Unless I'm in rolling hills or mountains I can do w/out it. GA is beautiful - but definitely not "snow beautiful" - and I won't even get into the drivers when it's snowing here.

Hektik
01-04-2010, 08:37 AM
yea snow is only nice will it falls. obnce that shit sticks to the road it just plain sucks.. atleast here in Ga it does, mostly cause the DOT is not prpared for it

BABY J
01-04-2010, 08:38 AM
We also don't have the support (street crews) for snow like other places which makes it suck. Nothing like driving around and seeing tow-truck pulling snow plows outta the ditch while I am in a FWD Honda playing around on the street and e-braking but still manage to stay outta trouble.

people joke about us down here when we get snow storms or ice storms, but up north they get different shit that you can drive on, down here we get totally different shit that is basically impossible to drive on.

even better when you see the idiots in AWD cars in ditches as I putt along in my FWD.lol...

down here our snow usually is accompanied by rain, which just makes a disaster...

SNOW/ICE: give me FWD. PERIOD

I know the AWD guys will chime in --- but if I can get it moving there isn't much I can't do w/ FWD.

Hektik

What happens is most AWD guys become over confident in their cars ability, but forget to judge their own driving ability

Where have you lived where you have real world experience? I have lived in Colorado and I laughed at my Mustang on snow days and grabbed the old 1st gen CRX. You need traction to point RWD in the snow/ice --- if there is none and it's coming around, it's coming around - steer all you want. With yoru drive wheels up front you have a chance. There is also less chance of sitting the rear out (arguably).

wow it was 16 degrees out there today?
damn no wonder we was freezing

AWD is only as good as the tires you have on it. the PROBLEM with awd on a frozen surface is that when you break traction, you break ALL traction and the car goes in whatever direction it so chooses.

Well, I had something funny happen today. As I said, in another thread and in this one. I only run water in my truck because the heater box leaks and I'm to cheap to fix it. I only paid 500 bucks for this pos truck and that's all im investing into it. It also has a shit list of other problems that I could care less about. Anyways, I went to check things before I left to pick up my mom from work and I noticed that my radiator hose running from my truck to my motor was frozen stiff. I mean stiff, like harder than my dick gets with some fine jail bait. Anyways I beat on it for a little while hopping to soften it up but it didn't work. O well fuck it lol.

BABY J
01-05-2010, 07:58 AM
That's why u don't just run water - LOL

Hektik

18 degrees right now w/ a wind-chill of 14. FUCK GEORGIA :)

Rocking the RWD regardless, you just got to be a bit more careful with the gas around corners.

How can you be too cheap to run only water and not add antifreeze because it leaks? Seems like its more costly to have your freeze plugs pop out and hoses burst than to buy a jug of antifreeze and prevent those problems from happening in the first place.

Yah I dont have an insane amount of power but I do notice that since Ive lowered the rear and put the 300zxTT sway bar on, the rear steps out a lot easier.

Yah its lame that I drive an auto but I'll put it in "2" from lights because anything above 2500 in first on wet roads it just breaks loose also. The Dunlop Summer tires I have on the rear dont help either. They dont get traction very well in the cold. Glad I have 255s though instead of 215s like it is stock.

BABY J
01-05-2010, 08:31 AM
You can lower the tire pressure to add a bit of grip too.

Lol I know this, but there is no point of buying a gallon of antifreeze when I don't have the money in the first place to buy. Then to pour it in and watch it drain right back out thru the heater box in the dash.
