Not sure how many of you are fans of A7X, but 28 is a little too young...

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - The drummer with Avenged Sevenfold, a rising force in the heavy metal scene, died on Monday at his home in southern California, the group and authorities said.
James Owen Sullivan, nicknamed "The Rev," appeared to have died of natural causes, Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo said. He was 28.
The Orange County coroner's office is investigating the death.

I really enjoyed their music. For a band, they overcame a lot when the lead singer had throat surgery. These guys weren't just a band, the all graduated with arts degrees and not only played, but they owned their own production company as well. These weren't the guys that just stumbled upon a record deal, they had, not only the talent, but the education on how to make it while playing something other than mainstream music.

Very, very sad news. A7X is, and always will be, my favorite band. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends in this hard time. :(

DAMN that sucks! I was never a huge fan but did like a few of their songs. 28 is way too young. The thing said natural causes....did he have any drug problems?

I heard this also. I like the band a lot, lately I have really been listening to them ALOT. Unholy confessions is my favorite song. I agree 28 was way too young.

what is it with young adults in Cali dieing of natural causes lately?

If I remember correctly, A7X was from Atl also.

As with others, I liked a few of their songs, but I wasnt any kind of rabid fan.

I've lost a few friends who were in their early 20s who weren't druggies, weren't unhealthy, weren't unsanitary. Just a theory, but maybe you shouldn't assume everyone who does die at a young age is a crackhead. Quick to judge much? Just sayin

I think they are dieing of "natural causes" not natural causes if you get what I mean.

Im just saying that because hes a "rock star" and most actors/actresses are the same way. They have problems and the families dont want everyone to know about it.

I'd rather assume the best about someone before I go calling them a crackhead but thats just me.

And I'd rather be a realist than live in some fairytale world that is filled with lies.

There's a much better chance that this guy OD'd than there is he died at the age of 28 of "natural causes"

He was notorious for his cocaine use, for starters.

Hated the band, but it's always sad to see 'em die young.

Damn, when I saw The Rev I thought you meant Run (which would have been bad too). But I really like A7X, that is a damn shame. He can't be replaced with the average Joe, that's for sure.

he was an awesome drummer and song writer. he wrote most of their songs. It will be very hard to find somebody that can write music and lyrics like him, not to mention his incredible drumming talent. hope this isnt the end for the band cuz i love them.
