I posted up my Rx-7 for sale and got offered IS-F for the FD+20k. Not a bad deal since i can't find a 08 IS-F under 43k. It's Black with rear window lip and front bumper lip. Waiting on rest of the details. I want, but something inside me is telling me not to do it and get in a mild high dollar car at the moment since i know i won't keep the IS-F for long anyway. Should i jump on it or leave it?

That's the craziest deal I've ever seen.

I have been really wanting a E39 M5. IS-F is hot digity lexus, but i don't know it just doesn't have the M5 appeal to me. If it was a M5, i'd be trading rite now.

Everything on my FD u need to know:

Something doesn't sound right why trade a $50000 car for a $15000-17000 fd and $20000

why trade $50000 for $35000-37000

make sure he has the title

x2 on all that.

He has money to pay off at least $30k on a Lexus but can't buy a $10,000 Mazda outright?

exactly.

Desi no offense, but i dont think your car is worth $17000-19000. An all ORIGINAL car in that condition can fetch that much, but yours has a rebuilt motor and non OEM paint job (doesnt matter that Wagenwerks did a $3000 paint job in the eyes of a collector OEM paint is better than a respray).

I think yours is worth prob $14,000-15000 tops.

To give you an idea my uncles ALL ORIGINAL Garage Kept 30k mile FD had people offering $21000 for it (i actually had 2 buyers bidding over it with money not just talkers). His is in much better condition than yours. Your car also has several accidents/dents, etc, doesnt matter that they are fixed, if it pulls on a carfax it is significant enough to knock it out of the $20000+ price range. Id be extremely surprised if you pulled $20,000+ for it, then that means my uncles is worth $25,000

I would trade if nothing else just to make a killing (if you can move the car)

10K RX-7? Around 20k is about rite. Rebuild motor, fresh seals, gaskets, and other things actually improves the sale not hurt it. 15 year old seals, low miles, new buyer would prefer freshened motor. In trade wise offer is good, i may take 18k for car if it comes in cash.

I already researched on him. He's clean, and has been researching on forum about buying a FD RX-7 since past 2 months way before i posted my FD on there.

Doubt he has title on hand, more than likely Financed it. I am not turning anything over till title is in hand, everything is in talk rite now so we'll see.

I am gonna do same to it as i have been planning for others v8-4 door i have been planning. I/E, drop, wheels, and done. Then i'll roll out dirty haha. Lets see what happens. I am pretty impressed by the car, there's a TT one running around .

Edit: Nothing is happening yet, FD is under knife, and he's about to go out of country till end of jan. IS-F has all the possible bells and whittles that can be ordered from factory, low mileage too.

i looked on autotrader, only 9 in nation being sold by private sellers. I am sure there are more on some forums, but i was surprised. Either they aren't moving or ppl don't wanna let them go.

I think its both. That car is so aggressive looking and built just right. Super Street's section on it with the biggest 3 part horsepower gain was pretty nice. You just dont ever see them.

Man i am really not ready to burn forty some thousand hole in my pocket, this offer just came outta blue. I was looking to buy something like this maybe in a year or so, but more i read about the car more i want to burn the hole. I guess i really underestimated this car. It's quicker than a RS4, almost if not matches the M3.

If your not comfortable with it then dont do it. No reason to rush I guess if you will really regret it later. A year sounds very reasonable to figure out where you stand. In a year though if you get something thats not brand new then get an IS-F. You wont regret it when you can afford it.

I can afford it now, and it's not that i am going to regret the purchase, it's that i had other plans for the money this year. I am in no rush to get it or get rid of my cars...even though it's a good deal. It's in talks, i'll do my research and see how it goes. If i can push back few things, and other things fall in place i'll get it. If not then always next year to play :D.

If it's too go to be true, it usually is. However, if this is legit, definitely do it. I personally wouldn't buy an IS-F, but that's just me. Really cool cars, but just not my style.:2cents:

Damn, almost got my hopes up, hey, when people come up on deals i get happy for them.

This deal will most likely NOT happen, no only because of the seller's possible integrity issue. Desi's heart is not in the game either, he's not ready for an F.

This thread is just for looks. lol

I agree, i am not head over heals for the F, but won't mind having it. More than likely i'll sell it for M5 or E55 (these 2 i really want) after a year. So far i am moving toward with the deal. He's legit (vouched member and has feedback to back it), but I am not turning any money or car over till i see the title in my hand.

If nothing else...flip the IS-F as you would probably be able to make some money...or just get it and drive it. IMHO thats a major upgrade and a hell of a deal at that.

This deal seems kinda sketchy, but if everythings legit I'd say sell it after a little while. I don't think the IS-F is your style.

Call me crazy, but I think you should leave it. You clearly stated that you wanted a E55 or M5. I'd rather wait for the car I really want then to get something that isn't my appeal.

FreeMyndz
12-29-2009, 01:25 PM
get it (if all is legit) and flip it in a year...you'd be in a much better position to trade up into a German performance vehicle if you're coming from a competitor...people will take you more seriously then also...

Maybe even a trade like what you're considering will be an option by then...

are you letting the Valet's in your life decide your fate? by that I mean that sounds like a status type statement:2cents: IMO you will get just as much fun out of the LEX with a lot less $$$ being forked out in the long run.

My cousin has a E39 M5 modded and man that car is pure joy to drive. You just feel so connected (involved) to/with the car when driving, looks great, and sounds is deep rumbly V8 that you can feel going through you instead of hearing it go out of tail pipe. That car has a attitude of get in and rip me open....gas pedal, clutch, & 6spd are the only 3 instrument i need to make it dance :D. Then status statement is just a perk it comes with. I haven't driven a F, so i can't say anything, but reviews have been strong. Hopefully soon I can test drive one.

I am going to have to agree with Mike, something is wrong with this. Either something is really wrong with the IS-F or someone is trying to scam you. Your RX7 is cool but like Mike said its only worth about 15k TOPS. So unless the IS-F has 60-75k on the clock, paint was never taken care of and leather seats show signs of wear, thats about the only way I can see someone wanting to do this trade.

UpSideDownDesi

IS-F has warranty for another 2 years, low miles with a service recently done, paint is in good condition, so is interior. His car has been used for ISS Forged products showcase shoots so has to be clean. Ran the VIN, and it came back clean. I am gonna get the F fully inspected before purchase.

He's been looking for a clean, reliable FD that he can mildly mod and play with. His plans were to buy a FD, get it rebuild and ported. Mine is in imac condition, motor is being pulled out for new seals. So it fits exact criteria and he has requested the motor to be street ported while it's out. He gets a FD with 29k miles with a freshlty built motor like he wants, and saving time/money at the same time. BTW i got 14k offers for my FD before Paint, CF headlight Covers, seat re-wraped, and motor re-build.

I'll post pix when i get it from him.

This thread makes me laugh.

E39 M5's are a dime a dozen.
