It came with rules since they paid my insurance and I broke them and lost the priviledge and within a couple of years I was left to do it on my own. my parents bought me my first car at 16.... a 2005 corolla s.... yea.... so it wasn't exactly what i wanted ( i wanted a 70's stingray... but that's a whole other story...) it was slow, not cool looking, and it was basically stock... was i appreciative? yes. yes i was... it gave me something to actually learn how to drive in... something i wasn't afraid to beat on(thank god for toyotas being so fscking reliable).... then at 18, i bought my 81 firebird... which was the first car i really learned how to work on.... sold that held on to the rolla for a while... till it got repoed... long story, but i'm glad it did. i bought my 99 s10 about 5 months ago ($3900) and have been paying the insurance on it myself (the truck's paid off).... since the s10 has air ride, i've had to tinker with it myself and fix things and mount things and custom cut/build things and it's given me a lot of real world troubleshooting experience... shit that i couldn't really learn in my auto program....


i guess what i'm trying to say is that it's ok for your parents to help you out, but after a while you gotta hop off the tit and move on to the real world... i moved out at 18, had 2 cars, a full time job, and went to college full time... AND managed to work on my own shit.

i think people who can't work on their own vehicles or are afraid to work on their own vehicles have no business being on any car or tech forum...

She went out and got an 04 Saturn ION with 100k on it for 14K, AND this particular car has an ECU issue that cant be resolved and J.D. will not honor its warranty to replace it. So... somedays, this car will not start.

I just picked up a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport ( performance handling package, dual exhaust, bucket seats/center console/floor shift, 17" alloy wheels ), sunroof/moonroof, 6disc premium sound with amp/factory subwoofer.

For $10k - and it only has 44k miles on it.

Yes for a SATURN. But being a girl, it looked "cute" so she wanted it. Not knowing that a Saturn is a domestic car that probably didnt even cost that much new. She wanted it, so she got it. And to this day I dont understand why.
