do mostly car photography and a little macro work. I was looking at this one... any other choices?

not opposed to spending a few $100 extra to get a super wide angle. I dont know enough about sigma and tamron to make an informed enough decision.

Car and Macro photography will take you oppostire drirections in terms of lenses. That lens looks to be pretty good for the car end of the spectrum though.

i have a tokina 11-16 f/2.8 super wide angle and love it. it's nikon mount and i'm not sure that they have it for canon, but i paid $650 for mine. seems like it may be in your price range.
