True. But the fact that any of the other WRC drivers could have done all the stunts he did is also true. The mad has talent, but he's not some super amazing driver like he tries to make himself look. I understand that he was trying to promote his company but I think it would be cooler if he did it using real hardcore rally footage.

No1 on this board can hold a candle to KB yet they hate. If you're better - then do something about and let the world know. To sit down on the same stage w/ some of the VETERANS in rally is an honor in itself that not every "Joe w/ a car" gets. KB will not win any championships but he will win some stages and do decently compared to the superstars that he will drive against.

Gymkhana isn't really a sport though. It's not against a clock.

That's why drifting doesn't make sense. You can't subjectively win a motorsport event.

and "Get over what?" Subaru of America's rally team pays him to win rally championships. So far he has yet to. Travis Pastrana has been the only one making noise on the actual rally circuit. (Granted, his and Ken's cars are in much higher spec than everyone elses.)

I don't like to talk down on anyone but most of KB's fans are a bit clueless on everything outside of those infomercial vids.

Again, WRC 2010 will be the learning experience everyone's been waiting for.

"Gymkhana events are time and/or speed events in an automobile." Looks like its against a clock to me .

So being judged by someone else means nothing? That means all those guys in motocross freestyle etc dont make sense either....right?

He gets paid to win? Everyone gets paid to race in rally....and Im sure they get more when they win. Im not sure I get what you mean here.

I was incorrect about the gymkhana not being against a clock so it works there but there really isn't many championships at a high level for it. It's mostly club racing.

I'm not a fan of freestyle motocross. I feel anything that has judging will get results that don't always reflect the right outcome. A clock won't lie.

No NOT EVERYONE gets paid to compete in rally. Most of those guys are paying for it themselves. Ken Block funded his way to where he is from his clothing company (DC Shoes).

Amateur teams, (which beside the Rockstar and Subaru crews) most of rally America is, sees self funding to compete. Also, many times if an amateur gets prize money from an event, it isn't enough to cover that weekends expenses.

The ratio of drivers that get paid to drive vs those that don't is like 10%.

If im right, gymkhana is somewhat new(i might be wrong), so the number of people competing isn't close to other sports yet.

I see where you are coming from about judging, but with some sports, thats the only way they can determine a winner. Simply getting to the finish fast wouldn't result in many tricks/stunts which is what both sports are about.

Some people are more fortunate than others...thats just how things are. DC is Ken's company and if you were him or anyone else was, you would be doing the same thing to promote yourself. Getting paid is more of an incentive for people to do something or work harder and also rewards them with better parts/cars. You cant change that. It is a part of every type of sport all over the world.

LMAO no relationship to the topic at hand whatsoever. You probably dont see drifting as a sport either do you? or are you just mad because he has money from his own company backing him and he has become successful at what hes doing? Motorsports change....they have to...cars dont stay the same. People are trying to make them better and faster everyday. This is the same thing. I for one would like to see it grow. It seems interesting as it has come autocross and some drifting as well as other things. Also, it can be timed so you need to get to the end as soon as possible. I dont see what is wrong with it.

I'm a bit late but this is just dumb. Ken Block's Gymkhana video's are just to showcase his driving ability and make a cool web video for promotion. Real Gymkhana is timed, Ken's video's are heavily edited between multiple takes where they picked the best take to make the video look cool.
