Chad you need a long range lense to shoot me at the track next year. You're coming whether you like it or not ;)

i know, i just dont shoot track events that much anymore. it seams a waste to spend $1500+ on a long lens that i would use only a couple times a year when i can just rent one.

Not really for the holidays but I plan on using my entire tax return on gear. I would like an HVL-F58AM flash, the Sony Ringlight flash and a 70-300mm thats better than the crappy Minolta piece I have now, lol.

 Im getn a Nikon D60 from a friend, I know it's not up there, but it's better than my Canon Rebel XT. And I believe I'd be getting a lens, extra battery, and two memory cards. I'm not complaining! :D

Just got a new PC and a wacom tablet! I needed a new PC sooo bad, my old one was maxed out and still slow as hell. The tablet will be more for graphics but i plan on using it for some photo editing as well... the control you have with a tablet totally owns a mouse any day. I also plan on picking up another speedlight soon, and set up a little home studio, mainly for portraiture as my son should be arriving any day now and I want really good pics of him as he grows :)

Canon gear:

planning on a new 580exII and a 430 exII for some "slave" work :D

also want to ditch the 50mm 1.8 for a 50mm 1.4 (focuses faster and better build)

oh there is so much that I want to buy... but can't

Used Nikon or Sigma?

I'm still a little torn. Obviously I love my Nikons, but that Sigma has been getting great reviews.

I have never used the nikon glass... but with sigma vs canon i'd get the sigma because the canon lens is so much more at $990(yet has IS).

The sigma glass is fast and built well... a good buy any day of the week.

I like my 10-20mm as well, but I haven't looked much into the 70-200, only at the 17-55.

just get the 1.2. its only 1100 more than your already pricey upgrade.

but srsly the 1.4 is pretty nice.

Isn't the 1.2 manual focus only?

If you already have an XSi, I wouldn't bother getting a 50D. Its not much of an upgrade. Instead, save your pennies and go straight to the 7D. Its everything a crop should be!

Like 3 people I know got XSi cameras in the past month (after seeing me carry mine around everywhere). I'm going to have to start hiding my lenses from them!

the 1.4 is pretty nice... shoots about the same as the 1.8 image wise. it just is more solid, a little bigger, faster on the focus, and costs $250 more. both are cheep lenses but I cannot bring myself to buy the 1.2L... that is until I run out of other equipment to buy then I might budge a bit :D
