$0.69 for 87 when I started driving back in '98. I could fill up my '79 Civic with premium for like $12 and then drive for a month because it got 40 something MPG.

x2.
The first time i ever started paying attention to gas prices was when i started buying it, and for about 10 bucks i could fill up my 95 civic DX. It was beautiful. I spent 60 bucks filling up a 98 civic and a 99 cavalier last night, and still have to put gas in my truck. LAME.

Parents would give me 20 bucks to buy gas and buy food. That doesn't work anymore... :(

Couldn't have been, Son. Average cost was $1.20/gal in 1985, lolol. I also started driving in that year. Later, QD.

I agree^^ when I started driving (legally) in 1983 gas was well over a dollar- seems like $1.20 or so? It came down below a buck through the '90s, but I still remember it being $1 plus when I graduated in '85.

Impossible. I can remember clearly bitching to anyone that would hear it when gas went over $1.00. That was a big milestone in my driving career cause I could get from home to school for under a dollar until that day. Though .69 is a bit low. I remember clearly .89 cents for regular.
