I've never liked using armor all or anything on my engine bay due to slipping belts and maybe not so safe on electrical connectors...

WD-40 is the shit, dust off as much as you can that way it does not clump up... Spray the entire bay (metal and all) with WD, let it sit about 5 min then wipe it down. SHIT WILL LOOK AMAZING!!!!

Just though I would share, if it's a re-post sorry...

Here are some pics... A before, an after, and a now just because lol

ive always just use GUNK or engine brite you have to becareful with stuff like wd-40 it can turn your hoses brown and brittle in a matter of minutes i sprayed some on a hose trying to spruce up the bay before a local car meet. got to the meet and my hoses were brown. bay looks good tho man

WD-40 is a terrible idea. It's good to lubricate your hoses and what not, but it's very greasy and actually looks worse afterwards. No offense or anything man.

Here are some pics... A before, an after, and a now just because lolHORRIBLE idea. What gives it the "clean" look is the 15% mineral oil in it BUT the 50% solvent/mineral spirits in it kills rubber and vinyl by drying it all out even though the mineral oil gives it a shine. Grit and grime sticks to that mineral oil near instantly too.

And before anyone says it...WD-40 is not a lubricant, doesn't work like a lubricant, and was never intended to be used as a lubricant.

looks good but very flammable! ive always used degreaser on my engine bay.....The old stuff was "very" flammable when it was made with propane lol...it's been made with carbon dioxide as the propellant instead for a longggg time.

holy fuck someone with a brainNahh, if you screw up enough you eventually learn! Hopefully you learn after the first fuck up and if you're lucky you'll figure it out beforehand lol!

I accidentally put ATF in a master cylinder after I rebuilt once (10 years ago)...genius! So I know what mineral oil does to rubber and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what petroleum solvents does to it too.

For me, i hate too shiny of plastic engine components, 10:1 it gives it a very natural "new" look. Also it looks pretty good on tires too. Very light shine with very little sling :D

They might have to order it though.

Another place i like to use for meguiars stuff is autodetailingsolutions.com. Its based in Arizona, but shipping is like 3-4 days tops and he sells samples (Hyper Dressing is only sold in Gallon and 5 gallon i believe, but he sells a sample which comes in a large spray bottle container.)

Jesus, regular lemon pledge will clean and protect all your ruber, metal, and plastics in the engine bay. Works great on all outside black plastics and rubber. It'll keep them looking new and dark. I don't use it in the interior however.

And the best part of all! It doesn't smell like fucking wd-40! Also wd-40 is a penatrate not a lubercant. It will eat at your plastics and rubber and paint anyways. You might as well get some MEK and save yourself some time and let that destroy everything real quick.

Here is my steps:

1. Start with engine cold.

2. Mix up some 50/50 Simple Green and water in a spray bottle.

3. Put plastic bags over distributor and intake filter...(this is what I do).

4. Spray engine bay and engine as much as you desire, I usually soak it real good.

5. Get a wet brush or a cloth and wipe spots you can to get to.

6. Spray engine bay down with water hose, keep the water away from the distributor and spark plug wires (I own a Honda so you others may want to use less water not sure).

7. Take plastic bags off, close the hood and start the car. Let the engine get hot and evaporate all the water in the engine bay.

This is just what I do... WD-40 sounds like a horrible idea
