ok i have done some research but want some ia input.
i have a b18c1 block and i know the ls assem will fit in (ls carnk ls rods and pistons) but i already ordered gsr rod and crank bearings and pistons rings can i still use those? with the ls assem?

Yes if you want it to blow up. LS stroke is longer that GSR.

ask patrick4588 about an ls crank in a gsr block..i think as long as you use the right rods you are safe...patty had i think gsr rods and pistons met head and resulted in broken skirts!

yes patt is my friend he lives down the road. he used ls crank gsr rods. thats why his blew up im using ls assem meaning LS RODS ls PISTONS ls CRANK lol i know that works with no head contact my ? is can i use my gsr crank bearing on my ls crank assem and gsr rod bearings and piston rings?

2 people missinformed

ls crank and rods will go in just fine..... oil squirters will hit rods so they will need to be deleted or bent.

gsr rods will not go on ls crank

i have forged gsr internals in my turbo ls

ls crank and rod bump up compression

yeah but can i use my gsr bearings that i ordered on the ls assem ?

no the RODs are different so the Rod BEARINGS will not work.

Mains i dont think work either.

GSR/ITR mains the same
B16/LS mains are the same

you can use the mains as they are the same as ls.... but the crank is different on the rod journals they are different..... you cant use gsr rods on a ls crank...... you will need to get ls rod bearings and use either gsr or ls mains... no biggie... acls are like 30bux at your door

ls crank and rod bump up compression

yeah right when it hit the valves.

once again i have gsr crank eagle hbeam gsr rods and standard je forged gsr pistons in my ls

thats strike two

so your telling me you cant put a gsr head on a ls.....

are you stupid

GSR and LS Mains are NOT THE SAME im almost positive

EDIT: im right

C/R (Compression Ratio) for the LS/VTEC
(B16a head on B18a/b block w/stock b18b rods) motor:

9.6:1 - P74 LS Pistons
10.0:1 - P72 GSR Pistons
10.8:1 - P73 US ITR Pistons
11.0:1 - P73 JDM ITR Pistons
11.5:1 - PR3 Pistons (1st Gen B16a)
11.7:1 - P30 Pistons (2nd Gen B16a)
12.4:1 - CTR Pistons

&

This is with the LS block with LS rods and a GSR (B18C1) head:

9.8:1 - P74 LS Pistons
10.2:1 - P72 GSR Pistons
11.0:1 - P73 US ITR Pistons
11.2:1 - P73 JDM ITR Pistons
11.7:1 - PR3 Pistons (1st Gen B16a)
11.9:1 - P30 Pistons (2nd Gen B16a)
12.6:1 - CTR Pistons

11.5:1 C/R is the "Safe" or target on 92+ oct street

a bearing set is different than mains.... the reason they are grouping is because of the rod journal difference,,,,

the mains are the same

dude thats strike 3.....

there is no difference between bore and deck height on a gsr and ls buddy....

Are you sure? I could have sworn ive seen LS/B16 mains listed differently even individually

that was the problem i ran into when i built my motor.

the bearing sets were different but the part numbers for the gsr mains and ls mains are the same....

i had to get my bearings separately and it cost a bit more since i ordered just rod bearings and main bearings.... the thrust washers are the same too

xdavidscenex
12-14-2009, 12:24 AM
yeah 94ej2 get it right or get out! this is pro talk im using B18c1 block yeah thats right with a B18b1 crank AND RODS AND uh oh PISTONS = sleeper ls v :] and thanks you guys i matched up the gsr rod bearing on the ls rods and yea they are smaller bc the ls rods are thicker and better but the mains are the same they did line up the same so i just gotta get rod bearings.

should i spend the 30 bux on ls rod bearings or stick with the gsr crank and rods and just put the ls pistons on that? witch would cost 40 to get the pressed
i mean i have both setups..

no biggie dude.... when doing alot of my build i read alot of what you put in the fact section and built by it so i take it as a compliment to talk motors with ya...

im still a noob tho.

why would you want to use LS Pistons?

If you are going boost run GSR Pistons strong ringlands and good compression

if you want to stay NA run B16 pistons for mid 11s compression
