My dad makes it I forget what kind he uses. You can make different kinds though. I can make the orange kind using Velvetta cheese and diced tomatoes/peppers lol.

You can get it a Kroger in the Asian/Mexican isle. Kinda expensive though... But it's good.

It's better if you make it yourself. I prefer peppers in mine.

It's just melted cheese lol.

Yeah?

I wanted IA's response. Not trying to be a dick at all but the reason I made a thread about it is to get answer from people not the typical google answers. You can't exactly ask a question on google and get a response as fast as you can on here.

I didn't know you could ask GOOGLE a question. I guess anyone with reading comprehension skills greater than that of a deer would know that you could have searched for your answer through GOOGLE. A .30 second search on that site netted about 790,000 sites. Later, QD.

They sell it in the cheese section at walmart and grocery stores
Or you can always call and order it to go from the restaurant

You can get it in the "ethnic" isle at most grocery stores, and they sell the cheese in solid form and instructions are on the packaging. Its a specific type of cheese and I forget what its called, but as for "making it yourself" you plan on milking the cow and culturing the cheese?!

Go to your local grocery store (we get ours from Publix) and there is an "ethnic" isle, it has Spanish foods, Jewish foods, and Asian foods.... there should be a section that has nothing but WHITE cheeses, usually with the Mexican flag on it... (may be next to cheeses depends on your grocer)... that, my friend, is the "queso dip" from the Spanish restaurants.

No. THAT is the "queso dip" that that store sells. Most all Mexican restaurants have different recipes and styles of cheese dips. That's why you just gather the ingredients and make your own. That's the best way.

And you'll find those dips in the potato chip aisle. They will be on a shelf or a wire rack shelf extending off the main metal shelf. Later, QD.

Actually no, the cheeses I am talking about have to be refrigerated... I know the Mexican restaurants have different recipes, but the El Porton my family usually frequents asked the manager (who is Hispanic) about the cheese dip and he told us the name of the cheese and where to find it...

What I'm talking about is the same thing she's talking about. But it's refrigerated in a bowl, and all you do is put it in the microwave for 30 seconds and then pull is out, stir, and repeat until it's creamy. It's really good.

I used to work at a Tex-Mex restaurant. All we would do to make cheese dip was to take grated queso-blanco (also called Oaxaca) cheese and put it into a pan with milk and microwave the hell out of it (like 10 minutes). It would be only half-melted at this point so we would stir in chunky salsa and spinach and microwave for another 10 minutes. It would still be kinda lumpy but once it sat on the steam table for another 5 minutes or so it would be good.

We had an attachment to the mixer that would grate the cheese, and we would do 20lb blocks at one time. It tends to get mushy/sticky so its slow-going if you hand grate it because its soft like velveeta.

If you're at home just for yourself just get the tostitos stuff in the jar. Making it the authentic Gringo way (in Mexico they don't really eat cheese dip) is only practical for a big group in my opinion.

BTW you put a spoon in the salsa so you can dip salsa onto the chip after you've dipped it in the cheese. That way theres no cross-contamination.
