i was driving my buddys civic and when i got on it, it wouldnt go passed 5.5k in 1st, 2nd, n 3rd. tranny doesnt grind either. felt like it hit the rev limiter. no CELs and engine is completely stock. its a d16y7 with a y8 IM. car idles exactly where its supposed to. (700 or so)

any ideas what could be causing this?

thanks in advance!!

sounds like it is having a issue idk why no CEL but its sounds like the car is in limp mode.
Id get someone with a scanner to do a test.

does the CEL come on before you crank it? or is the bulb not working?

maybe your tach is off, your at 7k rpm but the tach says less... could be off or the dizzy is kinda going bad

Ok i had him check If the CEL came on when he turns the key. It didn't so I had him change the blown bulb with a working 1 andnot surprisingly it stayed on. We'r gona pulld the codes later today. Any ideas what could cause this and let the car idle and run like normal?

it may be your o2 sensor.... pretty common problem with civics whether it be a swap or just a regular ole daily
