After not having a car for 8 months, I began looking for the "perfect car". I was in between a 335i, RS4, and an E55 AMG. The the only 335i color combo I wanted was sold literally minutes before going to look at the car. The Audi RS4 is an amazing car, but the only color I would have settled for was Ibis White(hard as hell to find) and they were also more than I really wanted to spend. I had been looking for the "perfect car" for nearly 3 months, I found it! On 04/17/09 I left work and headed straight to Hertz. I left The Hertz DC office around 6pm and have trouble with the first rental car issued to me at 5pm. Great! I was already an hour behind schedule! I and arrived in Centerville, Ohio at around 3:30am. It took me 30 minutes to find an vacant hotel. I got a few hours of sleep that night and woke up round 8am. I went to breakfast and rushed over to the dealership. I couldn't wait! The salesman followed me to turn my rental in, I then rode with him back to the dealership(Ross Motor Cars). When we arrived(5 minutes later), we headed straight to his office to finish the paper work. 20 minutes later I am sitting in the car while the salesman is explaining all of the wonderful, well placed features. As soon as he wraps up his tutorial, I am on my way back down to DC.

On the way back to my hotel that day, I couldn't help but laying into the throttle every 20 minutes or so. It was a true blast! I would deliberately slow down to about 5mph under the speed limit to do quick, semi-safe 130mph blasts!:D I ended up arriving back at my hotel around 8:30pm, exhausted, but I could barely sleep due to immense excitement! As soon as the weather somewhat cleared up, I took three semi decent pictures, and here they are...

Completed mods
-15% window tint
-OEM flush mounted Mercedes hood emblem
-debaged
-DPE S10s. 20x8.5(front) 20x10(rear)
Ordered mods
-matte black emblems

Future mods
-ELM(Electronic Lowering Module)
-Possibly some sort of dry carbon rear diffuser and dry carbon front lip(depends on whether I find something I "dig").
-2007-2008 W211 LED taillights(though I had sourced some, but come to find out they had just been sold. If I can't find any used taillights in the next few weeks, I will buy new ones).
-color matched front grill(Maybe less fins).
-Heat exchanger and cm30 pump(before any engine modifications).
-The obvious headers, pulley, and tune.
-Painted calipers(yellow or blue, still undecided).
-E63 front bumper
-Exhaust with some kind of cool tips(leaning towards an Eisenmann race exhaust).

That is all I can think of as of now, but I will add more 'future mods' and/or 'ordered mods' as necessary to keep up with my "build". I modded my 06 sti WAY too fast, so I think I am going to relax and let this car flow together. I'm not going to rush anything.

If anyone has any questions, comments, and/or concerns with the "build", please speak up. I would love to hear your opinions!

Thanks for taking the time to look at my journal, it means a lot!

Enjoy,

Wes

When you're voting about the finish of the wheels, remember I am putting matte black emblems onto the car(oem emblems stick out too much, debaged looks nekkid), painting the grill, getting a dry carbon rear diffuser, and a dry carbon front lip. Of course if I matte the wheels, I'll matte or gloss the lug nuts too.

Matte looks cheap to me.That's why I didn't get them refinished before they were shipped out. I think matte with a gloss lip can be pulled off nicely. Do you think these look cheap, too?

Why were you considering a RS4 or a 335i? Sure they're fast but they're not even on the same page as this IMO. This is a lot more car. More luxury, and it's still fast.

This is an awesome car. My gf's brother in law, who happens to be a friend of mine, has one and I drive that shit all the time. I love how the seats adjust to your body when you turn. That shit is pimp.

I see a murdered out around town here, and I have to say, it is pretty sweet. Whatever you do with this car, don't do it cheap. It's not a honda.

It's not a honda.I was considering the RS4 and 335i because they are entirely different cars from each other and the E55. They were both manual, but the RS4 is awd, sexy as hell, and the interior was done by the Gods. The 335i was cheap and easy to make fast. The E55 however is an automatic, and isn't cheap to make fast, just easy. Don't worry, I've never cheap out on any car I've modded, so I'm not starting with this one. Thanks for the compliments.

QFMFT. I'm surprised nobody has said to do the most unoriginal thing and just black the entire car out. Polished wheels is where the class is, not matte black. The whole matte/flat color scene will look so dated in a year but polished is timeless.

And put the hood emblem back on, without it your car looks the same as all of the other Hyundais driving down the road that ripped off the Benz grill/headlights. :goodjob:

The hood ornament is back on the car, but the flat one is going back on. Also, the wheels are being color matched with a gloss black lip. I personally HATE the polished look. If anything, I prefer the brushed with the polished lip. If this wasn't an E55 and was an E500 or E350, the brushed would suit the car better. The E55 is a beast, therefore I want it to look sinister. No one has changed my opinion as of now.:goodjob:

Oh, just to clarify, I meant a whole entire polished wheel. I know they're kinda rare in these days of red wheels w/ polished lips, black wheel w/polished lips, and Honda fat-fives with sanded/polished lips.

But look at Benz's from the 50s and what were they rockin? Polished wheels. Look at the hottest Benzs on the scene and what are they rockin? Polished wheels.

Mantooth

It purely subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure. What I mean to say is I think polished wheels look like dog shit on present cars.:goodjob:

*UPDATE*

I ended up trying to bring the Benz out in the shitty weather and got stuck twice. Once in the DMV parking lot, and once in my driveway. I had the car towed from my driveway due to the fact I overheated the brakes trying to get out of the snow, not to mention the battery failure indicator message came across the gauge cluster. Upon further inspection, MB told me that the only thing wrong with the car is the alternator:thinking:. Hey, at least that's under warranty, unlike the brakes.

Overheated the brakes? Sounds like T/C was trying to kick in?I was actually talking to a friend in Iraq, but I ended up sleeping in today.

Yeah, the brakes were grabbing while the tires were spinning. I thought I was going to need to turn the rotors and replace the pads, at the least. I might have prematurely worn the brakes, but they are okay, for now.

Well if you dont have any shuddering issues you should be ok. I highly doubt you did any damage because the wheels were just spinning and there was hardly any load to do damage to the brakes?

Why would you take out a 500ft-lb tq RWD car in the snow? Thats what we want to know lol

Why would you take out a 500ft-lb tq RWD car in the snow? Thats what we want to know lolIf the car senses lateral movement, the brakes act like T/C, regardless if it's on or not. I could definitely smell tire and brakes lol. I had it towed out and directly to the dealership to assess the situation, instead of trying to drive it to see if it was broken or not. Also, the roads were cleared, I just accidentally veered off of my driveway while back up. Just enough to get stuck in the snow drift lol. I get it back on Monday, but I won't even be in town lol. at least I got to drive it for a few hours.
