im not really sure what causes it, i think with time the synchros inside the tranny just wear out and the way you fix it is to get the transmission rebuilt and make sure they install new synchros.

Alright. As far as I know it hasn't been beat on. The current owner is a chick and I know the previous owner and he takes good care of his stuff.
How do I check the motor mounts?

pretty much just look at them. If they look old/cracked, and or when you rev the engine a little and you can see it moving, it may be time for them to be replaced. Not neccesarily though, only if the rocking is excessive.

Alright. So just making sure that there are no grinds in the trans is about it?

I would also check the engine for any/all oil leaks or oil burning as well.

also drive in gear...... like 40ish in second. LOAD and Let of the pedal..... not so much to buck the car but enough to make things that are worn make noise..... like motor mounts,,,,, get car to 65 and press brake.... if they shake it might need rotors or worse tie rods......

theres alot to checking a car......

take a hard look at the title n check if its clean before hand $$ to the seller.

you can google the VIN and it will tell you how many incidents its been in. it wont give you the complete carfax but it helps a little to see how the car has been treated.

also push the car and see if it smokes and check for oil leaks, how temperature moves, and make sure it passes emissions.

1. Clean and clear title.
2. Oil leaks, radiator leaks, etc.
3. Mechanical problems
4. Electrical problems
5. Engine problems (valves tapping/etc.)
6. Transmission problems (grinds hi/low rpms)
7. Body damage
8. RUST

Just a few things to look into, but you get the point. Also it's not just for Integra's, but almost any car you would buy.

There isn't anything specific to check, just go through the process like every other car to see if there is any problems.

one thing to check for on the integras specifically is slow acceleration...... fortunaely i fixed that by taking the integra engine and drivetrain, building it, turboing it, and swapping it into a civic........

btw mines for sale too

you can check your mounts by pulling the e brake and putting it in 1st gear and easily moving the car in 1st gear very carefully without moving.. do the same in reverse.. this ensures that the transmission mount and motor mounts are not moving too much.

Don't really know of any Teg specific problems.
As with any car, I would suggest a mechanic to look it over. That way you can know what things might need attention. Check for body repairs (orig vins, paint runs, over spray) too. I always like knowing if a car has been in a wreck and how bad. But if your sure you know what to look for by all means carry on.....
