well there are two different version that i know of - JDM and USDM. Yours looks like my usdm Type R one i have. If yours was, the paint job ruined it. No way i would sell as Type R. I'll take a look at mine.....

im not sure but arent the USDM type r VCs the same as the GSR VCs just that the type r one is red and the GSR 1 is black?
well if this was a type r VC its worth what a GSR 1 is worth now.

Yeah i think your right GSR and USDM TypE R look a like. Red vs. black. OPs could have been GSR, then painted red, lol.
