lol. only reason that im pissed is that it actually failed since it never had before that, and the fact that i barely have time to go and get it fixed! i only have two weeks before my tag runs out. ugh!

Sorry about that man. You could wait until like 2020 or w/e until your car is 25 years old and it won't matter anymore haha.

Lol I wish, na it's got to be the cat, it has to be. I'm pickin it up tomorrow. Thatss what everyone has told me. I would do the whole quick fix fluid, but I would rather just get it done since its old and all. The thing is fing time to do it.

Is there a fine for not getting the tag, other then just not driving it till its fixed

Oh yeah. Check for causes of high combustion temperatures (Lean mixture, too much timing advance, vacuum leak, carbon deposits...)

Can also be a faulty converter, though. My wife's Civic wagon failed for high NOx last week. I checked all that tuneup stuff, all OK (engine only has 7000 miles) replaced the cat and it cleaned right up.

re: "fixing it for $100" most any muffler shop will replace the cat for $125.

I ordered a cat from advance and am picking it up in the morning. I would hope this is it. I mean I hasn't ever been change I don't think, at least I know while I have had the car

cat converters only work when they're HOT. so for the first few miles of driving, every car will fail emissions. :o

Took the car to get the ne cat installed, then to retest, it was the cat! I'm good to go!
