I just bought a 360 elite today b/c I had to play gta 4 episodes of liberty city and couldn't wait for it to come on the ps3. I remember hearing that xbox's have had problems with a lot of their units with the ring of death and other problems. I declined the Bby protection b/c it was 80 and I remember hearing there is a local company in atlanta that can fix xboxs for 50 if it has problems. But I was wondering if I should go back to Bby or just play the damn thing and worry about it when something happens? Also will the warranty cover the ring of death or other well known problems for the first year?

get the warranty and you won't ever have to worry about anything...

Nope, you have a warranty from Microsoft them self. It would be a waste to get it from best buy unless their plan extended AFTER Microsoft's warranty. Also the "fail" rate with the 360's have declined a lot since that incident when they first came out, due to the poor design. Now Microsoft claims they have fix this issues using "smaller" more reliable parts and some type of better more efficient "heat sink". (i think that was what it was call)

In other words don't bother for best buys warranty, unless like i said before it takes place AFTER Microsoft warranty, If not it would be stupid and a waste of money to get it since Xbox warranty is 3 years for systems Red ring of death.

Okay you got your answer so I've got another only slightly relevant question...are GTA4 Episodes going to be released for PS3 after all?

XBOX is very good about fixing the systems that get the red ring of death and Ive never heard of any other problems with them. The warranty is a waste IMO. The elite doesnt really have those problems anyway, its the latest version of the system so the bugs have been worked out.

I personally never buy them, but I have ADD and can't keep anything too long. But on a side note, I have seen a lot of game systems fuck up....

Honestly I would not waste the money. Like someone said already you have a 3 year warranty already for the RRoD

Ive had a couple xbox's get the rrod and they have always fixed them for free. I think no matter whats wrong with the xbox its $100 for microsoft to fix anyways so paying 80 is pointless for a two year warranty

but the extra warranty covers everything except theft. if u spill shit on it or drop it. or take a flame thrower too it. but yea it is a waste of money.

OR you could save, 80 bux, and on the last day of the 3rd year warranty that Microsoft gives hit your 360 near the middle (where it says Xbox360) and if you get it right, you get (RRoD) and a new 360 plus an extra year warranty... come on spending 80 extra dollars could go on games.

I haven't heard of elite having the 3 rings of death. But regardless, I would pay the extra money to get the warrantee. Even though Microsoft has a warrantee on it already, it could take them awhile to send you another where as you could drive 5 or 15 minutes away and get you one right then and there

Not at all surprised the first question about Xbox ownership has to do with the warranty.

lol yeah, i never questioned or even care about warranty on my PS3. Simply because it was configured well.

well my ps3 has been acting funny for 4 months now where the video will be fuzzy and after 20-30 minutes of being idle it corrects its self (happens at least once a week). I have the 80gb

Nah I wouldnt spend the 80.00 on the warranty. Like people said Xbox's warranty should have you covered.
