What is it safe to REV to in a Ls/Vtec? It has B16 pistons on stock rods I believe and a ITR head. I was told 7500 max is that true? It feels like it wants to pull more that that but IDK!!! Anyone have any input???

5500 or 6000?????? i mean, my freidn revs his ls with b18 with b16 pistons to 7500.

is your motor even tuned? if your itr head actually has the itr valve train, then you can rev higher, but i think your week point are the ls rods. ls rods arent very strong( acutally i think its the rod bolts).

just don't get up on it at all till you get it tuned. once you get it tuned, let whoever tunes it tell ou what you can rev to, ect.

Lol @5500 stock ls rods can rev to 8k safely anything higher is a ????? on how long until it throws a rod. When you get your car tuned they can set your rev limiter where you stop making power. But to be safe I wouldnt rev pass 7800 just to be on the safe side. But I have seen alot of people build ls/v that have stock rods and rev to 8200 but I wouldnt try it.

The weak point is the rod BOLTS not the rods. What rod bolts do you have? If they are LS rod bolts then do not take it past 7800 and even that depends on how well your setupu was put together. Building an LS-V w/out upgraded rod botls is a waste of time b/c you still can rev it out like it needs. But it still should be a bit quicker than the LS.

Just a bit quicker? ITR head and b16 pistons wouldn't make it alot quicker? IDK about the rod bolts hope they hold up.

like what was said...rod bolt more of the issue. stock rev cut is 7500 and redline 7k +/-.

your setup will probably make power to 7800-8k, but i wouldn't recommend reving it that far on the stock rod bolts often. 7k-7500 depending on exactly where the power flattens out/drops. 7800 if you want to push it.

Aight cool. Thats sucks though I wanna rev out and ride out. just seems like it wants more rev when i get to 7500. I guess I'll have to do some workk to get there. Thanks guys!!!!

I wouldn't take it past 7500, even after you get it tuned. Just don't go nuts with it and kick the VTEC in all the time :)

The POINT of LS/V is to introduce some TQ to the build so you DON'T have to rev the crap out of it. The added torque gets the car moving. Make sense? Don't push it. You'll get gobs of performance by letting Scotty chip and tune the car - the Honda/Acura ECUs are LEVs and ULEVS (Low Emissions Vehicles and Ultra Low Emissions vehicles). This means they were/are designed basically for gas mileage - there is a good bit of performance locked inside the ECU. Go see Scotty.
