You are so smart.

172,000 miles, and you are going to add a turbo or nitrous. Might as well go buy another engine. How do you know its never been street raced, been watching the car 24/7 since you were 3?? just cause its never been raced doesnt mean its never been abused.

I was kidding in my response man. If you care about that car, do not boost that engine. Every single high mileage engine i have seen boosted, ends it's life or requires a rebuild shortly after. It is a very bad idea - spend your money on other areas of the car first.

:slap: NOT Necessarily!!!! Depends on you handle it and tune it, and if Scotty does it you will be fine.. I had a boosted d with 200k+ and it ran fine, with me racing street light to street light and at the track. It only blew up due to me not checkin oil and it cracked a sleeve. SO i say go for it. and the worst you blow the bottom end and rebuild it with low comp pistons and rods, and make more power.;)

just do a motor in car re ring/ rebuild.

when the heads off the car and the oil pan dropped youll definately be able to see what you are working with......

long as the walls look good youll prolly have no trouble boosting it.....or spraying it...

So much fail in this thread.

Look man. Stop asking the internet to make decisions for you bc the internet is stupid.

1) Do a compression check and a leak-down test on the motor. That will give you a good idea of it's health. It's not healthy JUST b/c you know where you got it from and it wasn't abused. That matters ZERO. It's even worth paying a few bucks to get 3 pulls done on the dyno to see what it lays down.

2) Any shop that can do the above properly will offer you suggestions on what your options are. The biggest factor is price. A wet kit can be had for $200 - $300 depending on how hard you look and how patient you are.

A decent turbo kit will cost you $1800 - $4000 depending on how nice you want it setup.

PS: Learn how to speak like an adult. Punctuation and capitalization goes a long way in helping you not look like a fucking dork.

You can stay outta boost, just like nitrous has a switch. All you have to do is keep your foot out of the air metering pedal.

Anyway, I would boost it, but thats because I am a turbo guy. It depends on what kind of power gains you want, and what kind of money you would like to spend.

Your original post makes it appear that you didn't spend enough time at school at all. Maybe you should go back.

This has nothing to do w/ what kid of car it is. ANY car can be boosted or sprayed. The rules don't change. And those rules are simple - they are based on how healthy the motor is from the start... which is why I said 1) compression check 2) leak-down test 3) dyno pull (optional, but is great for measuring your gains from stock).

i am use to having cars with vtec or factory turboed cars.

If that's the case then why the inquiry? The rules don't change much.

Speaking of READING (see how we always get back to the SCHOOL subject w/ you - interesting) this is not the MAINSTREAM forum - this is the FORCED INDUCTION forum. Reading is fundamental. Try posting there if you only want them to answer next time. :goodjob:

You're welcome for the answers... glad I could help. And the post above from Eminno is from Mainstream as he is the lead tech there.

Good luck kid.

nitrous tends to like ol' wore out motors....you'd be surprised how many sub 6 second 1/8th mile cars are running junk blocks, decent heads, and a shit ton of gas

I like the spray. I put 400 on an H23 with a stock computer and went mid 10's. The engine was stock sleeved with the Mahle pistons and Eagle rods. Like was suggested before, check compression, do a leakdown test and remember oil burning in a n2o engine promote detontion so you def want to make sure everything is in order. A 65 shot will leave you wanting more:D You should be able to check with Emmino and get his take on it.
