The show was a lil long for the # of participants, and the BOS went to a car w/ one body mod, and a very UNdetailed engine. So it seems he'd made up for it w/ a killer interior, well...no he didnt win best interior either. I know of two civics there that score higher by almost any score sheet in the country. Not bein a sore loser, but after years of this you can smell a fart ... Regardless, all the local guys rides looked great, and we all took home hardware.

nickrd
05-08-2005, 01:41 PM
Agreed Greg. Not sure how Mr. Reece could win BOS, but oh well. All the rides that showed looked great! Beautiful group of cars..

But two things from this show stood out to me personally:
1: Where was everyone??? This is my 3rd Formula D show in 3 years and this was the poorest showing by the # of cars. There were TOPS 30 cars, if even that. Wasn't like there was another showing conflicting?? Only thing I can think of was that this wasn't an NCCA judged show so it didn't count for points, so the "usual's" didn't show up. But still you gotta rep and suppor the event. :)
2: As Greg mentioned as well, the show was WAY too long. C'mon all 30 cars were judged and done by 1pm, yet you had to make everyone wait till 5:30pm for award ceremony AND make us listen that god awful blaring stage music setup right next to the cars all day. BOO! :2up:

05-08-2005, 11:19 PM
^^^Tom Reese works for Tsunami (Metra). I know him well from him being in our booth/rig (Circuit City) and getting me my sponsorship with Tsunami. I can tell ya he was extremely suprised when he won BOS. We were sittin in the rental car about to leave and he said "well, let's just see who one BOS" When they called his name he about got outta the car without putting it in park. I know his car does normally do well, even some BOS @ HIN...which struck me as weird that a '99 v6 Mustang would win BOS at hot IMPORT nights. But like ya say...oh well. His car is hot, a lot of national exposure, and maybe the judge(s) just liked Mustangs....just wanted to say that even he was suprised at the BOS award. Oh, and as we were driving back, whoever has the carolina blue civic that was parked at the NOPI booth, he made mention of your car being "one of the best at the show."

One other thing, I had access to that Red Bull Driver's Lounge tent and while in there I talk to Sam Hubinette and Papadakis. Both were saying how few people were at the event...compared to the other shows. So everyone was apparently concerned with turnout....# of car show entries, spectator attendance both were low. Any feedback why? Oh and on the topic of feedback, any feedback on the Circuit City rig/booth from those that stopped by will be helpfull too. Thanx...

Cliff
05-08-2005, 11:26 PM
jason the CC rig rocked....that was prolly the coolest mobile set up i have ever seen....oh and the girls and freebies helped...lol....

CodyW
05-08-2005, 11:47 PM
the little VIP room you showed us (i was the guy from driftmechaniks that was hanging out with tracy on friday) was freaking cool, thanks for hooking us up with some nice cold AC :). oh, and unfortunately i don't know (or care) about the car show stuff so i can't help you there, but at least the drifting was great. that army inspired celica was pretty cool though.

Cliff
05-08-2005, 11:50 PM
i love that celica...very creative

BOOSTED2KLUDE
05-09-2005, 12:18 AM
Yeah, the Celica was cool. Got a lot of exposure on G4 and Fox 5 News. Hey, btw we (one of my sales guy's and I) were on Fox 5 News. Anyone see it? Wondered how the press promoted/presented the event to the masses.

The girl's (actually provided by Tsunami) were ok and freebies were cool. I prefered the Toyo model, Sara. Good Lawd she's fine. Oh....Cliff, next time keep spinning that wheel til ya hit grand prize drawing. We gave away a Kicker L5 and Kicker Amp.

Cliff
05-09-2005, 12:40 AM

Cliff
05-09-2005, 01:30 AM

redgst97
05-09-2005, 02:19 PM
If we (as a region) are not careful, we will loose ANOTHER national level show. After all the talk on this forum about the show, it was a little disappointing on the turnout. With all the Company Sponsors that were there, the drifting, prize money, and possible magazine exposure, I find it weird that so few turned out. I hope this does not happen at the DUB Show or HIN.....

It was good to see a people out and about...I just wish more were there.

See you next time!

John
