View Full Version : in the past 24 hours, my car told me to f*ck myself (long read about my bad luck)

Okay.... Last night I'm driving around with my friends and I look at the temp gauge that normally sits at 1/3, and it is at 1/2... very odd for a cold night.... so I decide I am going to keep my eye on it, it eventually reaches about 4/5ths before I finally pull over, wrap a towel around the radiator cap, pull it off and see how much water it will take. IT took an entire half gallon... umm okay, I'm leaking somewhere obviously, that sucks but whatever. So we go back to my friend's and we watch a movie. It's 3 a.m. when I decide to head out. I , at all times, get caught in traffic on 285 and I am like the first car in line for a road block of ALL 5 LANES for an accident. So I stay there and idle for about 30 mins, then shut off. At around 4:30 (finally) they tell us they're going to open 1 lane. Ok, so they open one lane, and it takes us to the next exit, where my leading igniter blows. (idk if this is a common piece on other cars, but this is the thing that tells the coil packs to fire the spark plugs, the car won't run without it). So I spend like 20 mins in the dark with no tools, using coins as flathead screwdrivers and shit to swap my trailing igniter over to the leading circuit. Hook it all up (it's 5:00 a.m. by now) and limp it back to my friend's apartment because I didn't get anywhere near far away from it. He let's me stay and the next day, I find a spare igniter in my car from when I swapped chassis from the wrecked car (thank god). Hook it up, and make my way home. Then, 1 exit from my house, my front passenger wheel bearing just collapses. The car is able to drive home, but is VERY hard to control. I get home and have one upright wheel, and one crazy demon camber looking wobbly wheel that is bellowing smoke from all the heat of metal on metal contact with no bearing, and burning grease............. Then, just do add insult to injury, I turn the car off, and the clock hat is supposed to always be on, turns off, so I restart the car, and the clock has reset to 12:00, so one more little tiny thing managed to find a way to break before the day ended....

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully Thanksgiving will be a better day. Just remember, it could be worse.

Although this is a sad story. This word: ignighter baffles me
igniter?

Thanks. That means a lot. And I am lucky that the car saw it fit to let me at least get home. God it sounds weird, but I still love the car to death, like I'm not fed up with it, but why must it hate me? Haha new bearings and hubs are on their way and everything should be fine while I trace down the coolant leak. Found out the clock is a fuse because the dome light also won't work and they're on the same circuit.

LOL I am retarded, yeah igniter. Must go correct it like 20 times haha.

EDIT: oh and son of a gun there is a typo. Would some mod please make it read "car" not "card".

At least you had enough knowledge to get it started back up and limp it home, a lot of people would have to get a tow. Reps!

Yeah, I am pretty lucky to have guessed the right problem haha. Rx-7s have like 2 ignition systems, one that runs the engine, and one that fires at the very end of the combustion cycle to clean up the burn for emission. I used the emission igniter on the circuit that runs the car. I am glad I know the car very well. Thank you, REPS back.

I just spent like $300 in parts/tune/etc and got a new set of street radials on Weld Racing rims for the MCE day last Saturday. The Friday night before, I did a launch while going to the shop to remove my front swaybar and my opti-spark went out.

sounds like a normal day in a mazda owners life. good to see you got her running again.

dont feel bad tonight i had to change out my ignition switch that just took a shit out of nowhere. the starter would turn over in any position so i had to unhook the battery until i could fix it. lol

I had a brand new $300 tire blow out on the 405 and one of my Volk G2's may be damaged. If it is that's another $1000.

FML, I'm pretty much over this car bullshit. I'm just going to buy a normal car like a Taurus or something, fuck this shit.
