You're right. But only a little bit. It's the longest running SCIENCE FICTION TV show in the world. And it has nothing to do with how the doctor changes. It has to do with air time ratings, book and DVD sales and Internet traffic.

Now there are two separate runnings of Doctor Who. The original series, which stopped back in the late 80s and the new series which picked up about 5 years ago.

I used to spend every Saturday night (8pm on PBS) in the late 70s/early to mid 80s watching the original series. Tom Baker and Peter Davison were arguably the best of the doctors, with Baker being my personal favorite. I tried to watch these newer ones and couldn't get past the first few minutes. This new series sucks. Plain and simple. Later, QD.

I haven't seen the old series. I started with the 9th doctor. the 10th is the best

Because of this \/ \/ \/

I haven't seen the old series.

You can't have fair judgment of this \/ \/ \/

It has always been true that Tom Baker is the most popular and well-liked Doctor in the series. Ever. He is also the Doctor that spent the longest amount of time on the show (7 years). You should get a hold of those shows. It'll blow your mind. Later, QD.

I like what I've seen, but I've only caught the Chris Eccleston version, so it probably has a lot more to do with Billie Piper than Eccleston.
