Hey, guys. After having avoided posting in the kills section, I finally found a reason to. Today, My room mate and I were bored, so I suggested we go do some straight line pulls against each other. My car has almost 170k miles on it, stock engine. The only mods I've done are the UUC System U cat back and the clutch delay valve delete (clutch is still really old and worn). The Mustang is an '03 model with 80k miles. It has a cold air intake, aluminum driveshaft ,and Flowmaster exhaust. Earlier this year, he ran a 14.6 in the 1/4 mile with the aid of a Diablo Sport Tuner (good for maybe 4 or 5 hp), a 3.73 Ford Racing gears with Cobra LSD and the reduction of ~200 pounds. The last time I was at the drag strip, I ran a 15.999 with the CDV in. The clutch was slipping up to about 25 mph. We each had a passenger in the car. I was fully expecting him to just slowly walk away from me.
The first run we did was from a 10 or 15 mph roll. I did the 3 honks and we went. We were about dead even until around 100 mph, where I began inching up on him. I was like http://images.bimmerforums.com/smilies/eek.gif. I seriously didn't expect that, especially after riding in his car and driving it. Here's the video:

He called me up and wanted to try a standing start (probably because he knows my clutch is garbage and his is pretty nice). We go back to the same spot. I launched from ~2500 rpm and got a very clean take off. His tires slipped a little and we were exactly where we were in the first run. He backed off around the top of my second gear. You should feel proud for owning not only the stock/not gutted out car but the better car in every respect. Good run. 328is with M3 cams ($300), lsd and a tune go mid-high 13's in the 1/4 mile, not shabby for a turd 2.8
Get some UD pullies and a flywheel and you'll start walking away

I've been asking myself the same question since about 8 months after I bought the car, when I started driving it hard in the mountains... It's been over 2.5 years since I bought it. I just recently got a job, so what I want to do now is save up some cash, sell my car, and step into an OBDII 328i sedan. I'm super tired of folding the seats forward to get people and stuff in the back. If I'm not mistaken, the sedan is 14 lbs lighter than the coupe. Eventually, I'm gonna do an S52 swap with it. I'll probably keep it N/A.

What was the trap speeds from both of ya'll? It was nice to know that ya'll are pretty close. Are you gonna do anything else to it?

He doesn't remember. He thinks it was somewhere between 92-94. Mine was 89.

Is that you Geoffrey? This is James checkin in to compliment on your shifting. :goodjob:
edit: after watching the 2nd vid, I would love to have seen the outcome if the Stang didn't end the race early.

Hey, man. Yeah, it's me. Thanks for the complement. Josh backed off early because we would have been in exactly the same situation we saw in the first run. Doing it again would have been pretty much pointless.

The whole run was done up a moderately steep hill. First and second gear went by no problem, but third definitely did take a while to pull through.

Understood.
The gears are probably what's helping him the most. Nice runs either way.
