well im trying to install an SMS sound and i check it and then press the home button on NOTHING happens. its supposed to do the lil thinking thingy in circles and i dont get that.
then i go back and uncheck something (like dimmed icons) and nothing happens again.
Ive tried reinstalling WB and nothing. im about to remove WB and reinstall but wont i lose like some of my settings? would i have to find and reinstall them?

The circle thingie is called "respring"

It should respring if anything is changed on WB..

ah ha! its not respringing. Im sorry for the noobage but i just got my iPhone.

you know... the sound you hear when you get a text? right now mine is on tri-tone. ive had different ones ive gotten from Cydia in the past but now i cant swap them out. Id put a check next to say... my Transformers SMS Sound and Winterboard does not respring.

Usually when you download the ringtones from Cydia, they can be chosen from the Sound option directly..

Chances are that, 3.1.2. does not support those ringtones from winterboard. I've never had to use winterboard to activate such sounds...

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan is this what you were texting me about this morning? You should of just asked me directly foo! Whenever you download files, you gotta go into your settings and go to your sounds and go to text message. Usually whenever you download the sound file, it has to replace one of your existing SMS sounds, they don't just add it onto there. That's just how the iphone works. You have to choose one of the sound files already on the iphone, and whenever you download one, it replaces one of the default sounds
