On another local forum a few members and I setup a Spec Miata series for Forza 3, we had some exhibition racing last night and it's a BLAST. All the cars are so equal you end up side by side and bump drafting the whole race.

The rules can be found here: http://360racing.weebly.com/spec-miata.html

MY GAMERTAG: simtibb

If you would like to race with us, build a car to spec, and post your gamertag here so I can add you.

Races are scheduled on that quick site I made, just be on Live around those times. There is always practice too. So if I am on and you want to get some practice in to compare cars just hit me up!

For a race I will send you an invite, it's limited to 8 cars, last night we had five on track, it will get bigger.

I'll see if I can hang with you.

The annoying thing is, only 3-4 sets of wheels are light enough for a 295 PI.. :(

Oh, two things.

1. Maybe cockpit view only?

2. Who's using a controller, and who's using a wheel?

Almost everyone is using a controller. I personally am a lot faster with the controller.

It doesn't matter what view to use. The field is TIGHT in the previous race so there isn't much need to adjust anything.

Ah, alrighty. I was running times around Road Atlanta trying to get used to it. It just keeps pushing harder. I'm starting to like the little guy.

They're fun especially during a race, what times are you running? We usually run consistent 1:40's around Road Atlanta during a race.

THERE IS A RACE TONIGHT AT 10:00PM...eight spots open....anyone with a LEGAL Spec Miata wishing to join just needs to PM me your gamertag if I don't already have it, or just PM me saying you want to race so I know to invite you.

I think my lowest lap at this point is a 1:44.xxx, but I still need to tweak some things a bit..

I played around with this setup on Laguna Seca and it fit my driving style

Unfortunately I dont have Live ATM, so any chance we can get a list of average times at the major tracks?

Sure, I will get some later tonight.

Tips for getting into the 1:40's at Road Atlanta (which we use as a base track for the cars because we run there IRL so often lol) I haven't messed with any fine tuning settings, everything is just as it was when I put the mods on. You did update the spring rates per the rule book right?

-Turn one can be taken FAST, on your exit you should be around 92mph give or take.
-Turn 3 is at the top of the hill after one, DON'T BRAKE, just let off, turn in, floor it.
-Turn 5 (top of the esses) is tricky, BE SMOOTH, run wide.
-Turn 7 turn in at the end of the curbing on your left, clip the apex, run wide at the exit.

I think the whole turn 1-5 is where you make the best of your lap.

Depending on my front straight speed I am either in 3rd or 4th in turn one. Fourth if I am going very fast and having a great run, third if I scrub some momentum off. If you do go into 3rd don't shift to fourth until after three or you scrub some momentum off.

Ya everyone on my miata is per the rules, and the car is PI 295 flat. Thanks for the tips!

I have no idea why everyone has different PI's, mine is 294 some are less some more but everyone seems equal on track.

I will invite you to the race if you want...10:00 SHARP. If you miss the race we will be having other for fun races! :goodjob:

Its the wheel choice and tire size i think. If anything the PI should be nothing more than 295, otherwise the difference is the wheels. Also make sure your running the wider wheels in 15" size.

Btw: with clutch, im getting roughly 1:41-1:42's on RA.

nvrmnd i see now!

tire settings: sport compound rubber, upgrade both front and rear width to 205 (2nd upgrade option), +1 on wheel size both front and back, and a decent set of wheels.

Ive got TSW Trackstar 4's on mine and im right at 295.

EDIT: got caught by the ninja edit :P

Forgot to ask, can we adjust ride height or no? Reason why i ask is i didnt know if the shocks used in spec racing allowed for it.

Elbow

Yeah you can adjust anything in the fine tuning setting just the spring rates have to be at what the rule book says.

You missed the Road Atlanta race last night, it was fun as hell. Than the Sebring fun race was awesome, three car battle scraping paint and everything.
