Well, I havent posted much over here before, but I figured I may as well get some insight from you guys, seeing as how most Z boards consist of either "Keeping it stock" or putting a 350 in it.

Firstly, I got the triple webers on and running well with the new build. Im very excited about seeing the stroker come alive, though it's still running a bit rough. I removed the black/chrome stripes earlier today, and a tad bit of paint came off as well, so Im busy now trying to find some matching touchup paint. Im also going to buff the areas to smooth the paint so its blended better where the stripe was. Its still kinda MEH though. Coilovers are coming soon, so keep that in mind on the pics below!

Louvres are gone too, lol, thank God.

To summarize briefly, here's the thing Im looking to get opinions on:

A) Keep the sideskirts and rear bumper, or ditch them? The paint underneath these isnt the same and looks kinda cruddy... thats my issue... dont really wanna pay another 3500 to have it painted.

B) Slammed is coming soon... However, wheel fitment options are now afloat. I considered just slamming it on the 15s on it now, or getting 15x10 Diamond Racing wheels with flares... also considering the flares with a 17x9.5 Rota RB. Thoughts?

C) Trade it for a 510 or another AE86? =p

Any other ideas, complaints, etc are MORE than welcome! Now that the motor buildup is finished, Im looking for ideas for the other aspects of the car.

Dang, man. The louvres looked great. I'm all for some wheel fitment, though.

Just lower it, keep the kit on it, keep the wheels(spacers if needed), and for gods sake keep the louvers. Oh and webers on a stroker sing a sweet sweet song, so keep those too. I love the color on it.

I understand the benifits of a v8 but not a 350, they are really boring IMO. If you have to have a small block go witha 327 de-stroked to a 302. That way you can still wind it out without rod throwing worries.

just my 2 cent

Looks good man!:goodjob: Go for the fender flares too and wide wheels. I would leave the skirts and bumpers as it isn't to overtaking of the body lines, the only down fall is you can't lower it as much with the skirts.

IMO it looks much better without the side stripe.... that really flattened the car out and took away from the body lines. It might have to go back... depending on what takes away from the car more, the stripes, or little sections of touchup paint along the side with the little small holes from some previous stripe twenty years ago =(

If you guys REALLLY think the louvers look better, Ill consider them once again. Maybe I'l freshen up the paint on them and pop em on.

And a V8 is NEVER an option. Im perfectly happy with my setup now. Im still having fuel and/or spark issues at the moment, so it's not pulling anywhere near like it should, but good GOD it sounds incredible.

Not really a fan of hybridZ. Everybody on there thinks that 17x8 with a 20 offset is good fitment, and that if it doesnt have a 350, its uselesss.

Louvers are classic.

Damn, now Im ready for it to warm up today so I can throw them on and get them painted.

So Im guessing most agree that I was in the right by removing the tacky looking black/chrome stripe, even if it leaves less than perfect paint on the side? Compare my Z's body lines to others, and that stupid stripe makes mine look so much more boxy, and for some reason takes away from the S30s curvy sex appeal.

Believe it or not, due to the way those side skirts are made.. they dont affect how much I can lower it, seeing as how they are 100% flush with bottom of the Zs chassis still, and dont "drop below" it.

I also have the front grill out atm, for cleaning and repainting. Im debating on whether or not I want to keep it out ;)

For wheel selection, tbh, Im not doing the whole "2000 dollar wheel" thing again. Ill be spending 1800 on Arizona Zcar coilovers as is, and tbh... even if I did have much over 800 or so left in pocket to spend on wheels alone, id rather take that money and apply it to a set of control arms, or more suspension goodies. Thats why Diamond Racing was an option for me.

Definitely on the louvers. Period correct and a distinct, old school look.

The black/chrome piece. Are you referring to the door guard/molding piece?

I would remove it, but if you're not going to fix the paint behind it, I'd think twice on it. I had it removed on my car, but at the same time my car was being painted. To me it looks great without it.But I wouldn't do it if you're going to have an unsightly unpainted strip down the side. Later, QD.

No no no... by "unperfect paint" I mean, one or two little blotches that have been touched up by touchup paint. And yeah, I was referring to the door guard and moulding pieces. They just make me want to vomit. Might just plan on taking it to a body shop and having it professionally touched up... and may as well get my OEM mirrors deleted and fender mirrors installed. Theres alot I wish now I couldve done PRE-paint.

Yeah, have it touched up, man. Especially if you're going to the OEM mirror delete. You can save a few dollars by mounting the fender mirrors yourself and removing the OEM (sure you probably already know that). I installed my fender mirrors by myself and took about 10 minutes doing so. I can't see it costing that much to do. Later, QD.

My problem is, when the car was painted they taped the mirrors off, so I'd have to have those sections taped off and professionally repainted. Hind sight is 20/20 ya know? Haha. At first I was all about the OEM 70's look... now I simply am bored with it since my old 86 is gone, and will be making a track slut out of her, just because nobody really seems to look at these cars as much more than a vintage piece or drag car. =(
