i told myself i wouldnt buy another car until i sold one i have.

this is what i have narrowed it down to.

1-latest generation viper...put wheels and a S/C and call it a day
2- C5 corvette and build a 454ci lsx motor with twin 67s on it. basicly an 8 second car. im at a stand still here between these two..any opinions

I'm a huge fan of the C5 Vettes, one of the sexiest cars every produced IMO.

Never was a big Viper fan, but have to give them props...

But I'm saying go TT big C.I. LSx C5, seems like an awesome combination to me.

you already have a C6 as a very streetable "fast" car so having a viper thats very streetable and "fast" also is almost silly. you like to race and if you dont have a high HP car the C6 or the viper would eventually tun into one so dont waste your time and money.

TT big cube LSx C5 out of those choices.

in my honest opinion i think you should keep your engine plans but do it in a 98-02 SS/WS6. they are cheaper and are easier to make hook properly. yeah the C5 will handle better but if you want to road race or hit the mountains then the C6 would be better than a 1000+whp C5 anyways. yeah the C5 looks better but if you want to parking lot pimp then the C6 does that just fine as well. i think you want a stupid fast car that performs and in that case a TT big cube LSx F-body with proper suspension and good tires is hard to beat.

Viper looks much better than the Vette. Plus you already have a Vette. Later, QD.

When I see a Vette I go "ooh that's a nice car" when I see a Viper I turn my head and stare and go "OMG a Viper!". So much rarer to see and just badass with those 10 cylinders.

i wish. my budget is only 50k. i cant do anything to the cts-v if i got one of those.

i could do an lsx build c5 or buy a 2003-05 viper and S/C with wheels etc.

i was leaning towards the c5 for just an all out beast. the goal would be 8 seconds and still street driven

If you only care about going in a straight line go with the Viper. I know it's situational, but every time I track my dad's Vette I eat the Vipers through turns...but then they make up for it on the straights.

how many 8 second vettes to you see compared to 8 sec F-bodies? its hard to get a vette to that level.

Ahh I see, I was thinking a bigger budget because you posted a Newer Viper. With 50,000, I would go for a srt-10 though. I would tell you to get a c6z, but you already have a c6. Maybe pick up a gts viper instead of a srt-10. Either way, you can't go wrong with a viper.:goodjob:

WS6 isa fat boy. I vote no on that Chad. :)

I'd like to see you do the C5. That's the only Vette that made me want a Vette. Viper guys are largely dorks -- (even though you're already a dork). LOL

Go for the C5. Or save your money and race people w/ your ATM receipt. That's always smart. :)

The s2k will likely not sell w/out being parted out (just being honest) unless you take a BEATING and lose over 50% of your investment. Stick a 9 inch under it and then keep that as your "race" car. S/C the current Vette just for giggles and call it a day.

i have about 65k in modifications for the car. then add the price of the car 25k. and i amd only asking $30K. i think that is reasonable

id go with the c-5 if your actually going to do all that work to it. cause that would be a nasty car on the track:taun:

Curb Weight : 3495-3517 lbs(coupe)

500lbs is a lot of weight to drop from the WS6 and still be considered "minor".

With $50K budget, just get a used 911 Turbo, or a used exotic (Ferrari, Lambo, etc.). Keep the Tahoe for the daily - or trade it in and get a CTS-V for a daily.

BABY J
11-20-2009, 12:32 PM
I say steer clear of exotics. Start pricing clutches - oil filters - service pricing 30k, 60k, 100k etc and you will shit bricks. 911 would be a decent buy.
