Just stumbled upon this board by way of a friend. Seems like a lot of knowledgeable people. I have a used and abused Audi TT Quattro.

Yea ... when I was looking for a new car I really wanted an S4 but couldn't find one in my price range (bought this 3 years ago while still in college). But I've had a blast driving this thing around. I've wanted to do some major upgrades but spent most of my money on tickets (followed by V1 and CB Radio), and repairs.

Made the mistake about....... 3 weeks ago, 98 a4
Problems already:
Transmission control module fried,
Transmission now slipping because the tcm fried and did some pretty impressive/damaging things to tranny,
only one window works,
seat belts are all loose some stuck,
corner light fell off,
2 of the door seals leak,
etc. there is more
And ill own up and say yeah i should have inspected alot better, was hard up for a dd though and jumped before i looked. Will never make this mistake again

Damn dude that's rough. I had a whole bunch of problems the first year I had mine. Bought it used from Carmax w/70K miles. Had the timing belt break (and destroy most of the engine), AC go out, needed a new clutch, had a wheel hub bearing brake, and endless alignment issues. Thankfully I got the warranty and my $1200 investment paid for about $15000 in repairs.

yeah, i mean i was not expecting too much from it really, paid 2500 and was aware of all the interior/exterior cosmetics, but not trans. issues... it just feels like every time i sit in the car and crank it, i squint my eyes and pray that something else doesn't break/fall off/blow up next, although i am waiting for this to happen soon...
yeah thankfully you did get that warranty. I have been reading a lot of forums on autozine.com and reading other owner's experiences and 90% are not good at all. This will be the first and last audi i own

Yea ... I have a love / hate relationship with my car. But I think that's part of the reason why I like it. I've driven other cars that seem lifeless. This one at least has character. While it was a bitch when I first had it. It's been running smooth for the past year or so.
Oh, another fun bit ... the timing belt broke New Year's Day '08. Didn't have the car for almost a month and a half. 5 days after having it back, someone driving through a parking lot has a seizure and crashes into 3 cars ... one of which was mine. Car was gone for another month and a half.

damn, thats some luck man...
yeah i only dream of a day i could love this car, ima try to get her in decent condition with some tlc then we can talk about being on my good side... i mean i first bought it and it was one of the smoothest cars i had driven to that point then it just went to hell

One of my buddies has an A4 ... 2000 I think. He goes through periods of smooth driving and period of cronic repairs. I have a whole box with all the repairs / maintenance I've done. I need to put it into an excel spreadsheet or something. I've had a lot of those random $200 part replacements (Tie Rod, Axel etc etc). With my luck I'll go back through and see that something was replaced twice.
