Ive seen some fast SS's though. I wouldnt say all of them are slow.

LT1's have great low end TQ, and he sat still. That thing is probably ragged to hell and back with 300k miles or more.

shi*** i have seen some ss that move out there 1 up in jackson tn that i see all the time when i go up there and he spraying a 150 shot on a bolt on stock motor and that car is still running good to have 180k miles on it
