Yes it's fine. If you get pulled over just make sure the first thing you say is that you have a gun in the vehicle.

it can even be loaded, it doesnt matter as long as its not hidden under a seat or something

It can be loaded, hidden under seat, hanging in the back window or hell in your lap or slung over your shoulder. In the state of Ga cars are considered private property. Just like you can conceal carry a handgun or carry a rifle at your house or on your property with out a permit. That is why a cop has to ask to search your car, house or property.

technically you can only carry in your house eraser, not just your property. your car is an extension of your home and thats good to go as well. stupid i know, but thats how its written. also to the op, you dont have to notify officers of it being in the vehicle.

i would be on the safe side and ask a cop just to be sure. but im pretty sure you do have to tell the cop that you have it in the car or else you would be lieing to them

you dont have to tell them. and i have encounteres quite a few cops while carrying and sadly the majority dont know the laws very well. hell most dont even know its a gfl and not a ccp. and why do you think not telling them would be lying? lol. in some states you are required to tell them, georgia however is not one of them.
added: you also dont have to answer if they ask you if any guns are in the car. just politely say you would like to exercise your 5th amendment right not to answer any questions at the beginning. Hand over your license and keep your mouth shut. You do not have to answer the officer's questions. "Anything you say can and will be used against you." An officer cannot testify on your behalf, only against you. Anything you say can only hurt; so dont say anything.

This is how it was explained to me. In Georgia you have the right to own a gun. The police told me that they consider the car and extension of your home, so the easy answer is yes you can.
If you get pulled over you should let the police know because they will appreciate it and in my experience make things a lot easier on you. If you have nothing to hide then might as well tell them.
You don't HAVE to tell them unless asked, but it's a good idea to just go ahead and let them know.

Also, it looks like I am the oldest person posting on this, and I'm a long time NRA member, this means I keep up on the gun laws, especially in the Southeast

He's correct, your property includes: Home, car, place of business. It is also legal to carry at work, but does not mean you wont be fired from your job. For everyone that is curious, go to www.gapacking.org they will tell you all laws in depth with examples. Also it tells you places where you can and cannot carry in each county. hope this site is helpful.

That is a great web site and will answer a lot of your questions. I use it everytime I am unsure about something.

i disagree with telling them,i dont see how it could possibly make anything easier. if its concealed they will only see it if searched. if somehow they get ras to search me or my vehicle then i would notify then. otherwise you are just opening up yourself to a longer stop and possible violations of your rights. for some absurd reason a good majority of police think because you have a gun they can disarm you during the stop and run the serial numbers. which is not true unless you consent to it.

to add something else, if your rifle/shotgun has a pistol grip you can carry it if you have your GFL. It must openly carried however. Not that i would carry an AR to mcdonalds or anything, just saying you can.

But the results of said action would be entertaining to a fly on the wall.

I got pulled over a few weeks ago with my Sig in the door panel and my AR in the floorboard of the passenger seat with my range bag. Officer looked at it, commented on it being a nice AR, asked if I had any other weapons in the car and I said yes. He asked me if I had a license and I showed him my CCW with my DL and he asked me to slow down and walked off. Didn't seem too bothered by any of it since I obviously wasn't concerned with using them against him. I have my Sig close at hand whenever I'm in the car and unless asked I don't ever mention it to anyone, including officers. The last ticket I got I had to move it to get my insurance card out of the door pocket, never mentioned it was there to the officer and he never asked.

I can tell you that if I was sitting at that McDonalds and someone walked in with an AR on a sling I'd probably go ahead and get my Sig out and have it under the table.

I think I am in the same boat with you though replace sig with 1911 Officers model.

P239 9mm is my normal carry weapon. Small enough to conceal easily and 11 rounds is enough to serve its purpose. I honestly feel that the people who openly carry are just trying to show off and feel important. I like that I have concealment options and no one will know until I want them to. Unless I told you or you knew me well enough you'd never know that I have it on me.

^^^no need to jump into the CC vs OC argument.... but i OC a lot, and for none of the reasons you listed. I CC too, they both have their advantages.

Believe me I have no intention of getting into that debate. That shit will never end. I just have my preference. I don't have any reason to have people know I'm carrying.

Ok I know this is a little off but considering the topic and discussion going on. I no longer live in GA but in TN and from what I read the laws are very similar. So since I am 20 years old and can legally purchase a handgun through a non-dealer, can I legally have a handgun in my car? I wish there was a website like GApacking.org to clarify things because it seems like I am usually just getting peoples thoughts. And if i can have a handgun in my car, what are my restrictions? ex. can the gun be loaded, out of reach, ammo in the car or near the gun. Im sure you guys know what I mean. Thanks for any help

Just don't do anything illegal with it in the car, because then you can get charged with committing a crime with a firearm, used or not.

In Ga if the firearm isn't in your hands or in immediate reach; as in on your person, it will be nearly impossible to get those charges to stick. It just being in your car while doing anything illegal, like a traffic law, isn't enough to add that charge.

NEVER offer this info to LEO, unless asked. It tends to open an unnecessary can of worms. GFL holder here. I keep 2-4 weapons in my vehicle/person at all times, one is usually a carbine. ;)
