windows 7 hdmi

I read about a month ago that windows 7 had issues with no sound going through hdmi. Have they fixed this yet? I hook my laptop up to my tv to watch movies all the time and dont wanna upgrade if i cant get sound out of the tv. Thanks:goodjob:
