Ignition Coil Wires?

Okay so my car isn't running and I've been trying to figure out why and I think I got it. The wires that go into the ignition coil and come out under the dash (connected by two blue connectors right under the dash) and come out to the interior of the car as a black wire. The black wire is cut and I don't know where it goes, can anyone help? It's a 1985 GTI. Here are some pictures to help:
