Would it be cheaper to buy a MKIV 5 speed N/A Supra then twin turbocharge it and add a 6 speed tranny than buying a stock twin turbo one and adding a aftermarket twin turbo.

Yeah if I buy a supra first then I might buy a stock twin turbo supra and keep it that way until I can buy a house or another car. But there's no way I am paying 20k plus for a movie made famous car thats 10 years old, unless its a really good supra that someone has to sell to pay bills

Unfortunately the cars price is not based no some retarded movie.

Theres a reason why they cost what they cost. Do some research.

Just buy a TT, it will cost more to make an NA on the level of a TT than if you just bought a TT.

i know but most sellers i met are like "man it was the CAR on F&F"
I understand the car will be like 20k but freaking 40k for one heck no

With all due respect, you really have no clue about what you are trying to talk shit about. The cars are worth every penny that they sell for. You are 18 years old and no one will expect you to understand, but like accord said, research.

10-31-2009, 05:33 PM
Ok please keep it nice. and yeah I did do research. I do think they are worth around the 20k area, I am just saying that freaking 40k-60k is way too much
I don't talk crap. I am not dissing anyone. People want what they want for what they got and if i don't like the price I leave it alone.

Smart on the leave it alone, but I can show you 100k dollar supra's, that sell.

redblackfan

is it stock or did the seller do a bunch of mods to it. My golden rule is never buy someone elses project because you have no idea what they did to it and if they did it right.

I know of a NA-T MT for sale now that is clean. Has a Precision kit w/E-manage Ultimate. Makes over 450rwhp right now.

I know of a TT AT converted to single Garrett T-78 also. Not as clean as the other one, but priced cheap.

Def go with the model you want right off the bat for MKIV. Get a hard top if it's in the budget...otherwise targa for you. Keep in mind the replacement parts cost assoc with this car. Dealer pricing is higher than a Honda and getting used parts for the MKIV can be diff at times. I have to go nationwide all the time to source used parts... Sometimes hitting up the dealer for connectors, restoration, and maintenance parts etc.

As far as pricing for these they seem to be holding their value pretty good at the moment. I would say they have dropped just a hair in value / pricing vs a few yrs back... but otherwise 20K+ for one in any sort of decent shape.. a TT six speed that is..

Go to the supraforums.com and look at the supras for sale ...you'll get a much better idea what they are worth.

Is t top better that hardtop I heard that t top body is flexed more

Hardtop flexes less and is more desirable. And they happen to cost more. I think only around 300+ made it to the US. From reading, everyone likes them alot more vs. targa. But def. TT 6 spd is the way to go...just more fun.

Speaking from experience it is cheaper to buy a NA and turbo it... The TT cars are just WORTH so much money and it has very little to do with the movie. Now the movie did boost the value some because it brought attention to the car from people who had no idea before.. To answer the question you have to decide what you are going to be doing with the car.. The GTE and GE engine are both extremely strong engines.. Both can handle a ton of power out the box... The TT car will have better brakes, tranny, etc.. all of which can be added to a NA later..

By the way I think SC300, 6 speed or soarer 5 speed, Supra TT brakes and rear end, Fuel system and Singled GTE is the way to go.. And a easy way to make 500whp.
