okay so i have a jdm d15b block but for some odd reason it doesnt have a vtec head on it:thinking:. So im contemplating putting a y8 or z6 head on it. Since the block is already a vtec block what all would i need to do? i was thinking dizzy and obviously putting the head on there. anything else?

Most likely it isnt a vtec engine. The jdm d15b non vtec is equivelant to a d15b7, and came with what looks like a vtec port but its for a mechanical fuel pump since the non vtecs often came as a dual carb unit.

My reasoning? My hatch has a d15b non vtec in it.

all y8 parts work with the d15b, so the usual stuff.

I think D15B are vtec. Weird

i correct myself, the jdm d15b came in both vtec and non vtec, the non vtec was prior to the 92-95 era.

if your valve cover looks like this, the b8 vc, then its the non vtec version.

And your head code is the same as mine, pm3-4.

And it can be converted for FI. Just put the FI intake and block the hole (which is for a lobe on the camshaft to operate the fuel pump on the Carbed version).

I had a 88 hatch with a d15b non vtec. Some of the usdm's had the d15b non vtecs also. But if you pull the oil restrictor out it becomes a vtec block.

This will allow vtec to work.

This was mine. y8 head on a d15d non-vtec block....and turbo.
