View Full Version : The Return of the Screaming Chicken?

Duck-tail spoiler? Check. Fender vents? Check. Twin-port front grille? Check. Raised white-letter tires? Check. A 445 cubic inch V8? Check. Honeycomb wheels and a screamin' chicken? Oh, hell yeah.

Call it an homage or a re-creation or whatever you'd like, but the 455 TA that Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is bringing to the SEMA show in early November is a peculiar kind of awesome. Inspired by (or copied from) the second-generation 1971 Pontiac Trans-Am with the 455 engine, the Lingenfelter hits most of the right visual notes. Certainly, we think the time for the return of the honeycomb wheel is past due.

Lingenfelter promises "custom classic interior" to match the exterior style. Look for more information from the SEMA show floor on November 3. The vehicle is a one-off for now. But Lingenfelter claims, it'll be gauging whether there's enough interest to build a run of customer cars.

The F platform, or F-body, was General Motors' small rear-wheel drive automobile platform from 1967 until 2002. It was based partially on the GM X platform, which was used for compact applications instead of the sporting intent of the F-Body. The only two vehicles to have been built using the F-Body platform are the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. The fourth character in the Vehicle Identification Number for an F-body car is "F", on Fourth Generation vehicles.

So what were the differences pre-1982?

I mean that in a "I would like to be educated." way.

My only experience with an F-body was stealing my friend's keys and peeling out in his 2002 Trans-Am.

And I drove a V6 Camaro at Carmax and couldn't stop laughing the whole time I was in it.

Its just an idea, I think they should run with it. But for as far as the difference between Camaro's and TA is a different tune really. I personally would rock a LS1 TA over Camaro, but be perfectly happy with either.

Need to see it for real. These pics don't really reflect what the car will look like.

Here's Mr. Mopar royalty himself, Mr Norm and his Cuda

Only the grill received the vintage touch though on the front end.

Very Camaro-ish...

But I like it.

Needs some refining, but those are definitely some pics that get ya thinking they're going in the right direction with these old-school ---> new-school muscle cars.

I like it, for a concept.
