Well I built this first chopper when I was 16, and I was just learning how to weld and bend pipe. So needless to say the first one wasn't perfect! It had a 5 hp briggs motor on it and a suicide brake. I had taken the engine off and figured I would take a pic of it before I threw it away. Here it is...

My brother got a 8 hp Honda engine that he was gonna rebuild and put on a go kart or something, and he decide he didn't want it. So it got me thinking I should redo my chopper. Then I was like hell, I'll just build another one. So I figured I would post up some of the progress on it. It's fun building this stuff from scratch. You get to decide how every little thing is gonna look and it's challenging.

Here is just a little mock up to get an idea of the stretch and ride height and seat height and where the engine will be.

Here is the engine torn down to the block. So I can hone the cylinder and put in the new rings.

I had to cut 2 inches of the crankshaft off because it's built for a cement mixer so it's extra long. I got in my new clutch and got the chain lined up.

And here's after today. I built the top tube and figured out the bottom of the frame. And got a seat. Here is kinda what it will look like. Still lots of figuring and changing to do.

This the the pipe thats gonna connect the two lower pipes to the head tube. This was fun to make fit.

You should be able to run that rear end for a bit long as you don't beat the crap out of it. I ran a 400 small block chevy in one with a TH400 on the stock rear end for a bit before having a 9 inch put in it.

Well here is what the frame will look like. I was gonna cut the bottom tubes where they meet the big pipe coming off the head tube at 45's to make them fit it. But I like the way they look just butted up against it. I am gonna make some filler pieces to make them flow into the big pipe.

Well made these Friday, just have to make the spacers for the rear wheel now. Not much left now, seat, throttle, brakes, and paint. Maybe I can go on a test ride next week! :goodjob:

Well here's a little update. I have the foot pegs made and the brackets for them. Got the exhaust made and fitted. And the new chain on and tensioner pulley made. Also got the seat on.

Well it's official. I have the throttle and brake made and I got to ride it around Friday before I left work. It's pretty damn fast actually. It rides good and is a lot easier to control than the first one I built. I'll post up some updated pics tomorrow. Should be painting it pretty soon. :ninja:

Well I was wanting to get some more done today instead I F*cked up really bad. I was tapping the thread in the end of the crankshaft so I could bolt the clutch up. And this happend!

So I have a fun job of getting that out now. I was gonna make the threads 5/16's but it will probably have to be 3/8's now. I am gonna mess up my new threads trying to get the tap out. I have a tap remover but the crankshaft is hardened and so is the tap, so it just tries to break the remover if I use it. Sad times! :cry:

I got the broken tap out and got a bolt in the end of the crank to hold on the clutch. You can kinda see it in this pic.

Well I was having a great time riding it around and taking it down the road. It's actually really fast.

Well I pulled back in the shop and noticed I had a major problem.........

Here it is taken apart. I think I know how I am gonna fix it, but I feel like a retard for making it so weak right there. All the leverage from the front wheel pushes right there. I am going to straighten it and weld a piece of 3/4 solid steel bar from the top of the head tube to the bottom. Then it cannot bend and all the torque will be on that bar instead of the forks. :headslap:

^Thanks! Well I have decide to scrap this front end and start over from scratch. I am gonna change the whole look and design. I am going to build some top and bottom clamps and the forks will be straight and run all the way up to the top of the head tube, like a dirtbike. I will post some pics up tomorrow of some of the progress I made today.

Well I decided to change the front forks from 2 in pipe to 1.5 in pipe. I think this will look better with the bicycle wheel. And I am gonna try to get a wider tire to go with the bike wheel too. I still don't know if I like it or not.

What do you guys think??? Should I go with with my original small fat front wheel, or the bike wheel?

Well sorry for the period of no progress, but I got the clamps back from my buddy that works at the machine shop. They turned out amazing to say the least. And the front end should be finished up this week. I like this setup a lot. I'll post up some pics tomorrow of the front end on the bike.

it is a awesome build, dont get me wrong, is that just aluminized muffler tube, just dont cut it buddy, i dont mean to disrespect you at all, as it is a nice build, but lame about the material used for a frame, no matter if is home made or professional made you may spend the same if not less buying 1 1/4 .83 ERW tubing than aluminized muffler tubing, just my 2 cents my friend, by the way your machine would bend it as well!
