Any ideas guys??

I have a 2006 Mazda 3 I 5 speed.....

I was leaving work yestederday as normal when i noticed i turned my lights on but no illumination on the dash. Also that my break light was on and i had no abs.

My radio was still working as were my dome lights and steering wheel controls. My headlights are constantly on , i cant turn them off, also my highbeams work. As well as my odometer and light behind it along with all the instrumentation.

When i got home i decided to further investigate. My turns, hazards, markers, stop and tails along with my horn and wipers are not working at all. My dome lights do not come on when the door is opened, i have to manually turn them on.

I checked all my fuses and they are all good.I tried disconnecting my battery to reset it and no luck. Aldo my dianostic port isnt getting anypower to to turn on the code reader.... My friend seems to think its my ecm.... i am not sure and i am extremley confused...

any help would be appreciated

kinda had the same issues but not as severe and it was because of the fuses. double check em all one more time. U pulled out ur glove compartment right? im pretty sure in the sedans as well as the hatchs that there are two areas the fuses are (engine bay& most stupid place ever...behind glove compartment). i didnt think any of mine were blown when my left headlight wouldnt turn on and my cig lighter werent working and one was blown. if anything take it to mazda and have them find the problem and fix it urself?

well like I said just hit me up i'll come that way and we can start going thru the dash looking for the culprit or the hood. Chances are some water got into a boot or a harness or something and shorted something out. and we man need to loop check each fuse.

I've had times where looking at the fuse the fuse looks fine. The gaps are solid. And only after adding like a little light on one side and a 9 volt battery to see which allow current did I find that one of the fuses didn't conduct current anymore. Not sure if my dmm has a fuse checker... I know it has a battery checker for like AA and AAA and C and D batteries. and 9V. either way hit me up if you have a few and want me to try and help or just need a hand!

LMFAO!!!! ah (wipe tear).
Casey, I know that everyone keeps going back to the "check your fuses" thing but, I really can't think of anything else. I would buy some brand new fuses and replace what is needed. If it's not effecting drivability then it's def electrical. Unless you have the proper tools you'll need to take it to mazda or some place that can run a test. Now mazda may not do it because you moded your car and they'll tell you that that's your problem. I really don't know what else to tell you. This seems a little fishy. :ninja: :police:

Did this happen because of your ambers ??

sounds like a ECU problem. That or you fried something in the main harness. A fuse being bad wont cause that many problems, it would cause just a short in its own circuit.

you mean ECM?

C.Smock

no the body control module

he said the electronic control module would be effecting more vital componets to the car running

yeah I guess that is a good point. but you said that your ABS and brake lights where on. If that was true, that means there is a fault some where in the signal from the wheel sensor to the ecm.

C.Smock

does that not run thru the bcm before the ecm? im clueless man..

Electronic COntrol Module controls all electronic functions of the car, IE, sensors, regulators, pcm, etc. If your having a ABS/brake issue, that would seem more to the ECM side that the bcm.
