Tried the usual DOS commands. MBR Fix, Fixboot. FAIL.

I need to recover data off the partition.
The only thing I have at my disposal is R-Studio version2. Current version is 5 and looks much better.

Anyone know of any good free tools?
Just need to recover a few files if I can't recover the partition.

Install the drive in another computer and try to access it (make sure its host os supports NTFS)

was some of the first things i tried.
put in another computer, tried to run asr, couldnt even get that far.
got into dos, tried fixboot, fixmbr.
ran chkdsk, said it was unfixable.

R-Studio v2 recognized a lot of partitions, but could only recover 1.
R-Studio v5 did better, but was a trial so i couldn't use it to recover.

I did find a free program called 'Find and mount'
worked great, but the drive really crashed shortly after.

If you really need those files there are data recovery companies. Expensive but effective. I had to price it out for my boss and it starts in the 300+ plus range and goes up from there.
