I would be more concerned with performance and quality then sound, That being said, I run the HKS and love it...

as for performance and quality..... its a swing, push, or piston valve..... not really gonna make a difference as for cheap versus expensive....

i like the ebay ssqv knock offs..... the tial knock offs have problems closing after dumping

ive owned 2 hks ssqv and a greddy rfl..... but now i use an ebay.....

hope that tell you somthing other than hes a cheap ass

I like the ssqv on my itr

I have dual blitz ones on my 240 which I don't like as much

I like the r2d2 one though - I think power enterprise makes it?

i run an hks and love it. i prefer quality over all so id rock one that said "im gay" between gears if i was convinced it would never leak. as far as sound goes thats personal pref (the rfl and hks both hurt my ears with the windows down, my only complaint)

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge HKS fan. Just not with their BOV's. How is it quality if you're getting compressor surge and it leaks? Is it high quality because it will do that for as long as you own that BOV? As an added bonus, it hurts your ears when the windows are down... Sounds like a well-built winner to me.

not really sure what your talking about...... ssqv's are notorious "fluttlerdumpers" they bounce open and closed to make that neat sound that only they make...... which is what alot of people are calling compressor surge.......... but they are kinda wrong calling it that.

the best bov is a synapsis...... but they are expensive. or any kind of piston or swing valve bov is the best..... they are simply on or off.

heres an example of compressor surge....... nothing to do with a bov what so ever....

i missed where i complained about compressor surge and leaks? im not saying an hks wont leak under any circumstances (as hks would lead you to believe) but i disagree that its prone to. as for compressor surge i have seen no evidence of this, period. if an hks fails to open so is any other unadjusted bov.

there are plenty of other good bovs out there i just happen to like my hks. but i disagree with that whole post..except about my ears, it is really high pitched:goodjob:

Save that money and use a 1g DSM bypass valve. It will hold up to 20 psi stock and you can modify it to hold well over that. Use the 200 bucks you save for more mods.

i think the other Nova suggested Synapse, im with 'em. For me knowing a BOV performs its job correctly and reliably is satisfying enough. Sound doesnt matter, people hear my car and like it but theyre hearing more wastegate than anything.

Synapse and the anti-stall kit. youll be happy.

The reason the HKS makes the noise it makes it because its causing compressor surge, when it flutters open an close to make that SSQV noise what do you think happens to all that compressed air when it opens and closes again? I have been running an eBay knock off Greddy Type RS for about 1.5 years with no issues, that is my suggestion.

I HATE the sound of the SSQV. It annoys the shit out of me but with that said they are of good quality and the real ones almost never leak. Never waste your money on a fake cause it will fail.
I love the Tial. Thats what I will be running on the CRX. The new Q's sound great too.

The only BOV I have ever had leak was my Prof ( which is a " high end"). As far as the knock off greddys and HKS BOV they function very well for a 1/4 of the price with a good majority of them not leaking.

LOL...

I want to put a duck call on mine now...haha

I like the way my old-school HKS SSQV sounds with rotary.

I think the HKS sounds best-suited on rotary and on inline 6. 2JZ more-so than RB-series though.

On the RB-series and for most other 4 and 6 cyl. the "chirp" of the HKS just doens't seem to fit the exhaust tone.

I would recommend/prefer something more along the lines of a Blitz or Greddy Type R/S/RS for more of a "koh-chhh" sound over the "ka-cheeewwww" of the HKS...

:P

Opinions based on Experience:

- Greddy Type R on SR20 = Sounds great
- Greddy Type R on 13BT = Sounds great
- Blitz on 13BT = Sounds even better than Greddy Type R
- Blitz on RB20/RB25 = Sounds PERFECT. Suits the exhaust tone of the RB's.
- HKS on 2JZ = Sounds fine, but is very "commercial" and "Fast and Furious" cliche` if you ask me.
- HKS on 13B-REW = Sounds good, depending on exhaust. On some FD's, it sounds too toy-ish when combined with a very farty coffee can 90+mm exhaust muffler.

My 2 cents..
