Okay so what qualifies someone on here as an OG, and what does it stand for? I have been around since about...2003ish and I have no clue what it really means. I have a general idea, but not 100% sure. Can someone please help me out with this?

(Note: If you have any intentions of coming in here and saying something dumb please turn around and leave. Thanks)

Original Gangster is what it REALLY stands for. Meaning someone from back in the day who's been around ever since.

Doesn't mean anything. Just ignorant elitism. And I've been here longer ('02) than most self-proclaimed "OGs"

So then how long would someone have to be around to be considered an OG? Is it a status that you achieve after having been here for a certain period of time, or is it more along the lines of you joined at a certain time and you are still here.

Am I an OG? :ninja:

Of this site probably, but a true OG is over 30 and knows how the import scene started cause we helped and were there in the days when it began.

I'm glad you mentioned "self-proclaimed" OG's. If I just start calling myself, for example, an OG does that make me one?

I know it doesn't really mean anything just curious about it because I hear/see it every now and then.

Damn I have been wondering these same damn questions!!!!
So that makes me an OG too? NO one answered how long do you have to be on the site to called one? And I don't the the 30 and older thing is true here because I've seen just random people calling other members OGs and I know they aren't over 30.

BABY J

It's 2 fold. It's part longevity - and it's part what you offer to the site... your "presence" or "status". Some people have been here since 1972 and are still noobs - LOL. Some haven't been here very long at all yet still have "clout" and status b/c of what they bring to the table. It gets tricky. It has nothing to do w/ how old you are - it just so happens that us 30 and older guys were driving and in the scene when a lot of the newer people weren't even driving when the SpoCom scene was being developed on the streets.

IDK, to make it simple, 'original gangsta' status can be attained through:

Post count of 10,000 and higher
Must be a member for more than 4 years.

As for 'post quality,' the member longevity and post count all go hand in hand b/c if you've made 10,000+ posts of shit, you would have been banned, or have never made it to that point.:2cents::2cents:

An OG is just an OG. It's like when you see Chuck Norris walk into Starbucks... you know for a FACT that he can whoop your fucking ass even if you don't know who Chuck Norris is.

It's 2 fold. It's part longevity - and it's part what you offer to the site... your "presence" or "status".

In a way, you're right. You can't have Joe Blow sign up in 2002 and have 3 posts and then sign back on in 2009 and someone say, that's OG Joe Blow. And likewise you can't have Jack Sprat sign on in 2008 and have 10,000 posts and be known as OG Jack Sprat.

So really it's longevity AND contribution. There really isn't a lot of us around anymore. I know I'm the most active OG of IA. There are quite a few that claim they are OG that really aren't. Most are close though, lolol. Later, QD.

i didnt live here to compete back in the late 90s, i didnt move here till summer 2002 i joined Import South around that time then found IA shortly after.

I dont think im an OG cause i never hung around these guys, only knew them from online. It wasnt until YEARS later that i met and became friends with them.

We are kinda the same. I've been in the game a LONG time. Me Tom (Honda/Acura Specialists) and a few others were the only "quick" guys on the SSIDE in the 90s. Every1 that had speed (money) were up North. Tom was running 15.60s in the SOHC Si (black one) and I was running 75 - 100 shot single cams in EF and EG hatches on Moreland snatching fox-bodies around. I wasn't a track rat but I did my fair share of street-runs. Back when the cops showed up to Moreland to WATCH and would only interject later in teh night and say "ok guys... we've seen enough, this shit is getting out of hand - break it up". Tom and I knew OF ea other - but never got to run that we know of. We didn't actually meet face to face when I came home on leave once in my 94 Si - this was in 1999.

I left in 96 - 97 for the Air Force so a lot of my early days was in the Air Force - dragging Chuck Seitsinger down the road (yes I did - LOL - he was a parts counter manager as Eskridge Honda in OKC back then). Every time I'm in OK I stop by the shop and embarass him and tell that story to as many of his customers as I can b/c he was "unbeatable" as far as the local OKC guys said - yet this ATL boy moved to OKC and wrecked shop in a juiced di6z.

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u59/MUSIC_MAESTRO/WAGO/IMG01447.jpg

From 96 - 05 I was not in GA but made a name for myself in the many places the Air Force took me. I moved back to ATL in 05 and it was a VERY different scene. Tom was still around - a few of the old school guys were but there were many unfamiliar faces.

I can dig the scene still - but only in bits and pieces bc largely it's not as daring as it was back then. It was more about PEOPLE in the 90s, and now it's more about cars... not sure I like the direction things go these days.

Guys, real OG's KNOW they're OG's.

If you were invited and went to infamous IA parties back in the day......you're probably an OG.

If you remember Alex (Carrasco) or Pablo being judges at car shows and had Pablo stick his hand up your tail pipe to tell you your shit is NOT clean.....you're probably an OG.

If you were here and got pissed during the great crash.....you're probably an OG.

If you were there to see when the "IA girls" wore short shorts, did booty dances, and hung with the boys at the big and small shows......you're probably an OG.

If you remember having shows from the ice rink to race tracks to AMS (when NOPI NATS was fun) AND everybody had a good time drinking and cutting up......you're probably an OG.

If you remember Team ECI dominance, X-rated antics, being scared of clowns, Team Fuct wild boys, Kat knocking some guy out, 3somes in the middle of parties, pink parties, Altezzas were cool, cotton in the wheel wells was cool, rescuing CRX's out of crazy EX's garages.......then you're definetly an OG.....:D

I got to take it a bit further. Back in the 80s, we kept our vinyl door panels and treated them to drip effects. Outlined drips inside the door and painted them the same color as the outside to make it look like the paint had dripped in. Also, we did what was called "rocking the dash." There was a two-bottle set of paints that you would spray on your entire dash and it would give off a rocky type surface to it. Looked real cool back then. And finally, we used to paint shapes on our tail lights and all other lenses (except head lights - GTS smoked covers for those). Most people put directional arrows on their signals. On my tail lights, I got a pack of 1' sticker dots and placed them in rows and columns on my tail lamps and painted the entire housing. I took the stickers off, et voila, My entire tail lamp had a polka dot pattern. Lolol. Later, QD.

Jimmy B's for New years???lol i actuall remember most of that more from when i was hanging out with my cousin when i was 15. she had a mostly stock 99 camaro z28. then when i got my first car. many of you will laugh but this is when it was cool to have neons everywhere, 17's, mid size spoiler, loud ass stereo, etc. it was a 1987 chevy nova. was a 4 door, resembled a corrola http://imcdb.org/images/043/471.jpg

Got two trophies actually lol. One for show for older cars category and another for the sound off. I miss that car. It wasn't much considering now days most kids first cars are brand new or high performance cars. I worked and bought that car when i was 15 all on my own. Paid for every mod and done most of them on my own. Well what i knew how to do and/or could do.

I didn't realize a good friend of my Ricky Ortiz new Julio forever until last year. But yea I've never said i was a OG, all i have said is i have been around for awhile and had some fun. Hell the first 3 nopies i went to i was only 13-16 and i was drinking mixed drinks with the police watching me mix them. I remember when the friday night line in front of Atlanta Motor Speedway was like a huge ass party and every one would share what they had with everyone. I remember walking down the line several times each year i went with a beer in one hand and a bottle of rum in the other. for letting people take small shots i would get like 2 or 3 beers from them. Hell one year i had a book bag and a jump suit on that got full of beer. It was pretty cool when you could walk around inside of the car show with a beer in one hand and a bottle of liqour in the other and the state patrol riding around inside full uniform in their cars with a beer would cheers to you as you walk by lol. Back in 1995, I used to go to the strip every weekend, actually. We'd roll from, Burger King down in front of the mall and turn right at the bottom of the hill. What really ruined some of it for us was when James Smith got killed at Belton Bridge, which stopped a lot of people from coming out. Then when people started getting into fights over nothing and stupid shit all the time. That forced cops to crack down. Back in 1995, I used to go to the strip every weekend, actually. We'd roll from, Burger King down in front of the mall and turn right at the bottom of the hill. Go up about a block and turn into the shopping plaza and turn around and go back. Burger King was the turn around from the other end. Then BK installed the speed bumps and I (along with quite a few other lowriders) had to find a different way to go. Later, QD.oh my...I knew exactly where you were talking about before even reading SS's post lol! I took a left going up the hill towards the mall side by side skating WOT with a Mustang GT in my 300zx and out noses a Gainesville cop from the mall sign...it was wet and we passed him going 60-70 then I watched him in the rearview loop it trying to pull out after us lol! At the first light I get in the left turn lane at the Payless and told the dude to take off straight...the light was red and the cop was coming on us hard. I was afraid if I tried to bust a u-turn on red he was going to t-bone me...I pussied out and gave up.

We all pulled into the mall at his "request" and after a good verbal beating of spitting mad anger we were let go. The good ole days when skreet racing wasn't a crime lol!

I don't call anyone OG in the import/sport compact scene unless they can tell me where the original Nopi shows were held and what the big meets were back when this shit got started. Cause obviously if you don't know those answers you don't know the local history of the scene. You are OG if you can school someone on the history of the LOCAL scene, not the scene in general that anyone can read in magazines. You had to be doin this shit long before the first F&F. Just my opinion.

Even if I didn't know about the Big Chicken Meets or the Toys R Us meets that followed over in Duluth or know about the NOPI shows held at Lakewood, I think, with all the photos I've posted of not only other cars in the scene back then (and by back then, I'm talking all the way back to the 80s), I've posted many pics of myself in that scene. So I don't need anyone's permission or ok to be known as OG. I've earned it more than probably 97% of the people on this site.

Lolol. Later, QD.

Original Gangster is what it REALLY stands for. Meaning someone from back in the day who's been around ever since.

Thankyou!

lol at "old guy"

And you're really not an "og" until been you've been "representing" a spot for 10 years.

I've also heard there's like a "bg" baby gangsta and heard that was 5 years of "repping" said spot

Don't know how real "bg" is though.

Thats exactly what I was talking about. You know how it was started, and you were around long before it became popular. Lots of people were around but did not go to BC or Toys R Us but they know about it. You have posted pics of some real OG Godfather Customs shows from Mama's parking lot. I've seen the pics of your cars you've posted. That is OG shit. Everyone has their opinions but I hear all these people talking about how they were around back in 03 to 05 talkin about they are OG. LOL. I'm sorry and not trying to offend anyone but in my opinion, when it comes to the import/sport compact world, my OG timeline I guess is '95-'02 as a lot of those guys are still around.
