So I got to check one of the items off my bucket list this past Sunday. Took my rental M3 to the ring. I brought my camcorder with me to record the laps but they are now prohibited, and will result in being thrown out. My wife was able to snap a couple of pics with her blackberry. But here's some nice cars that were there.

Did you drive around it? Time? One day I will go around it.

Edit: So you drove around it, I hate you. Time? :D

Yeah, I only got 8 laps in because they kept closing it for wrecks. Spent half the day waiting around for the track to open, but at least there were plenty of nice cars to look at to pass the time. I didn't time myself because you have to slow down on the longest straight, pull in, and wait in line for the next lap.

They don't advise timing yourself because you will end up pushing yourself and wrecking your car

Hopefully I will make it out there one day!

Haha that Opel Astra Caravan OPC (I'm assuming that's what it is) is pretty strange...I like it.

Not a bad way to spend some driving time.

Did you see any cars being tested?

Well the car was about $1500 like I said for 7 days. You could definitely take a shorter trip, and save there. Each lap at the ring cost $22 euros (about $30). You get a little break if you buy more laps at a time. I bought 8, which ended up like (buy 7 get one free). You can get a coach airline ticket round trip for about $800. With the a hotel, gas, food, etc I would expect between $2500-3500 dollars. Just make sure you check what dates the track is open to the public. It's reserved for manufacturers and the media during the week (so I'm told). Most saturdays are private track days. It's usually open to the public on sundays. Every once in a while an afternoon during the week. Definitely a must do for any car enthusiast!
