View Full Version : More from the private collection of Civics QD had...

Here's a couple of Civics I had back in the 80s. My 1977 Civic 1200 and then my 1983 Civic 1500 sitting beside my Mom's 1988 Accord. That pic was taken in 1988. The 1st gen Civic pic was taken in 1989. The 1200 had a little more to the engine and I had it dropped straight to the ground. My wife at the time (and with it being the "in" thing at the time for lowriders on the WC) had the wheels painted florescent pink, along with the high-mounted baby turbo side mirrors and the WINK! mirror. The 1983 model was just lowered to the top of the tires (not in that pic).

I also have a 1983 Civic wagon that sat on 13" reverse offset Prime star wheels that stuck out about 6" from the fender and mono-spring rear and no coil fronts.

Enjoy some more flashbacks! Later, QD.

You're right about that, man. Back in the 80s, it was strictly WC style that had the crazy florescent paints. Green, orange, pink and blues are all over the place, man.

wagon is G as fuck

You know man. I really should go out there one day and get that damn thing. Later, QD.

You're a lot younger than I am so I don't know what you guys called them. But it could be because back in my days, they were known as deep dish. Same as now, I think. Or I think they're referred to as offset. Later, QD.

I think we use to call those deep d's, not we as in my age group, but just people I heard talking at shows and such, before I could drive I was racing karts and into lowriders...weird I know LOL. I built a lowrider bike, still have it.

I honestly have never heard of that term. I was on my 2nd or 3rd lowrider on the day you were born, lolol. I always heard "deep dish" and "reverse offset." Back then, we also just put RWD wheels on FWD cars to get the reverse offset look. That's what the wheels on the wagon were. They were for a RWD car. Later, QD.

Seems kind of strange you never post in any thread that I start and all of a sudden you feel the need to? Yeah. You're still hurt. But this thread isn't about you and your feelings. Later, QD.

Those are actually wheels covers, lolol. The ride height is NO SPRINGS on any corner, lolol. I had air shocks mounted on all four corners and four air compressors mounted in the trunk running one to each shock for a slow-riding hydraulic effect. Later, QD.

Unlike my Civics and Datsun, it did not. I have found that every car I rode in, springless, that had shocks instead of struts rode just fine. It did bounce, but you never really felt it on the inside. If you'll notice, there is a blue car on the other side. It's also a spring-less ride. 1990 Geo Prism LSi, lolol.

Back then wheel covers were quite popular. Later, QD.
