so before, i had two optical drives in my computer and they worked properly until one failed to work. so i took it out and replaced it with another one. if i plug in two, it fails to read either. if i only plug in one on the master only or the slave, it shows that both are functioning properly, but just not together.... wtf?

do you have the drives configured correctly and if so,are they ide, sata,or esata drives?reason i ask is because the esata drives will confogure their settings automatically.secondly, what is the positionong on the motherboard that you have them configured at?also, have you tried making sure you have the drivers installed on the computer for the mand are they updated as well?go through device manager and verify everything is installed and up to date.gl with it.

XD maybe i didnt "configure" them correctly. lol The problem was the jumpers on the back of the drivers. they were mixed match--like master/master or master/ cable select. thanks for trying man. reps to u.
