what is the benifit of takeing out a D16z6 motor and putting in a D16y7?? i know its supposed to be a jspec motor but with everything i looked at so far they have less horse power, less torque then the z6 motor. so what is the reason for doing so? i only ask this because i might be buying a del sol and he took out the z6 motor and put the y7 motor in it.. input needed please.

My only guess would be availibility. The y7's are non vtec and less powerful, but in single cam land it really doesn't matter anyways. The y7's aren't j spec, they come out of 6th gen cx/dx/lx models.

This is true. Or perhaps he wanted better fuel economy, I would just ask WHY myself!!!
