Sooo...Friday night a couple of us have this spontaneous idea to organize a Cannonball Run/Gumball 3000 style rally to a beach, just a little shorter version. A few beaches came in mind but the closest ones, like Savannah, have absolutely nothing to do and the others like Miami and Daytona are a really long drive for a weeks notice...

Why a weeks notice you ask...just trying to catch the tail end of spring break. Short story long, I'd been through Panama City Beach before and thought it was pretty crappy but until last night/this morning never gone there just for the spring break/nightclub scene...it was far better than I imagined: the beaches were cleaned up, the people weren't all nascar fans as i expected, etc.

To make the story even longer, I went to sleep after work Friday because I was planning to go to a party later that night but someone forgot to call me so I ended up waking up at like 1:30am Saturday and not being able to go back to sleep. I spent until sun rise gathering thoughts and ideas, started photoshoping logos & the flyer, and creating a little organization of the event we thought up the night before. After a full day of killer mtn runs (those pics & vids will be up soon), i pack in 30 minutes and drive to PCB leaving ATL shortly after 6pm...with driving in nasty rain half the time, we landed on the beach at 11:30pm Central Time.

On the way down we came up with 2 checkpoints, in approx. 100 mile increments, with the 3rd leg ending at the beach [nobody will know the exact route until whoever wants to go recieves their information packet]. We made notes of the exact time and distance traveled and even started taking pictures of each exit/turn off sign, checkpoint location, etc. until it started pouring down rain. We have road names/numbers, mile markers, landmarks, etc. all precisely noted...if you get lost you should not have ever been issued a driver's license.

Club Le Vela, "the largest nightclub in the US", had the shortest line and everyone seemed to be leaving the place next door and going over there. I talked to them about registering for a VIP group and that won't be a problem...still trying to figure out the safest parking and where to stay. Whoever can offer me the best deal on a group rate will be awarded our company for a night or two....i just need to come up with a general number pretty soon. I realize all of this is last minute but that is what makes it fun and if you're already planning to look for trouble this weekend then look no further....

If you don't want to drive then I'm sure there will be someone that will let you tag along and as far as costs, i'm not competely sure yet. Place to stay, club access, food, gas, etc. All the initial costs are coming from the organizer's pockets but we're working on getting Red Bull as a sponsor and possibly some others. This is when you chime in ImportAtlanta.com admins *hint hint* ;-) or whoever else wants to contribute in exhange for a little publicity...maybe print up some stickers, vinyl, t-shirts...or whatever.

Cliffnotes Version- Sucks for you if you already read all that above :-)
- The Varsity to PCB - 300 miles
- Meeting/leaving Friday evening and stopping at 2 checkpoints on the way with arrival planned shortly before midnight.
- the club is both 21 & 18 and up...just differant pay scales but being VIP it shouldn't matter. Planning an afterparty and you're free to leave whenever Saturday or stay that night and do it alllll over again to go home Sunday. Nothing like partying all night to watch the sun rise on the beach to sleep most of the day to do it all over again...

I, umm...found these pictures somewhere, yes that's my story and I'm sticking to it:

Sorry, no pics of the beach or when the Panama City K9 unit decided that I must be a drug runner and just had to search my car at 10:30am (11:30 our time) on the way home just as i'm leaving the city....the story was "i stopped you because an undercover patrol car a few blocks back clocked you going 67 in a 55" ...12mph over! The funny thing is i know I never exceeded 60 but gotta have a reason to pull you over and of course just having an out of state tag is probably cause for a search..."lots of Georgia dealers making pickups here in Panama City Beach".

He was driving a Dodge Ram with a camper top for the dog and had a custom fabricated camera mount for a regular dv camcorder...we chatted about it, he saw mine...accused me of being a street racer, that was after seeing the big blue air tank of course....chatted some more....searched a little, didn't bother opening half my bags, or actually look anywhere but in one backpack and only unzipped my large carryon and pulled out the small overnight bag...asked what was in it....replied "shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, etc"...but he never bothered opening it. One of the first things he asked and asked later again was if we had any drugs, narcotics, guns, etc...nope just a knife in my pocket, then my roomate mentioned he had a prescription bottle of ibuprofen....he asked to see it...my roomate found it in one of his bags, handed it over and the officer replies, this isn't illegal...it's just ibuprofen...? Well, you asked to see it and it would be illegal if it wasn't in that container....he read the label and said, oh it's just ibuprofen, i don't care about that..............the funny is he didn't notice that there were two differant sized pills in there ;) lol.

I'd do it, if I didn't have to work on Saturday night. Sounds like a ton of fun.

Club Lavela is awesome, i dont know if it is still rated the largest club in the US, but it is huge. I love the variety of rooms they have and how their is a pool right in the middle of the club, that's usually where they hosted alot of MTV spring breaks but since they have the damn thing in Cancun so much it hasnt hit Florida in awhile. The room where they have the live bands and the bar is pretty tight due to the fact they usually have kick ass bands playing even if they are local or cover bands. One of the coolest things is how you could be buzzed:cheers:, have a beer and cigarette in a hand and walk to the end of the club and deck right were the beach is and feel the nice breeze and the ocean right in front of you w/ loud music in the background and drunk girls lurking around for excitement:idb:lol, sorry ladies. Damn how i want to hit spring break.
