Anyone been deployed to Balad? I'm headed there next year and just trying to find out how it is.

I was there for a while last year. One of the most built up bases in Iraq. You will like it there.

two story movie theater and indoor and outdoor pools on the airforce side is cool too

I wouldnt consider that place a deployment. More like a paid vacation. They have like 8-9 different fast food places. several dfacs.. huge ass px.. etc.. Oh and a shit load of hot ass air force chicks. When I got medevac'd out of Iraq I was in balad for a week. It was awesome. Paved roads, concrete sidewalks.. and even red lights.. haha.

Never been but I heard about the place from AF guys I work with. I would love to go but I think we just go to Bagram Airfield when we get hurt here in Kabul.
